Yeah, I would imagine Mr Harris has been reading this thread and disagrees with my comments on the previous page.

I do get his point - from new, I would have always had a 1.9, but now I would buy on condition rather than engine type.

Been a tinkering this weekend....

Got a set of brand new engine bay stickers so finally got round to fitting them....(and the tyre pressure one too for the door)

Oh and havent been happy with the fit of the front bumper....most wouldnt have noticed but this is what it looked like at 4pm yesterday!!

But she now looks like this got the gaps 90% perfect....its never going to be 100% as they never came out of the factory 100%!!!

Oh and I might have put my show plate on the front...drilled the holes and everything smile

Bit more of an update....spent the afternoon yesterday on Pugly's interior...it was a nice day and could rely on the sun to dry out any damp from the cleaning process.

Obviously a modern interior you can use stronger chemicals and wet vacs to do the seats but in a 24 year old 205 you risk damaging the plastics with strong cleaners like G101 and a wet vac will destroy the seat fabrics.

So armed with a solution of Autoglym Clean All (in a fairly week mix I might add) I set about giving everything a good clean up.

All the plastics were cleaned and then wiped over once dry with Auto Glym Silicone Pumpasol...all of the seats were cleaned with the same Clean All solution then once dry the leather parts were fed with Zaino Leather Treatment.

So now you can see that Pugly's interior is nearly as good as her outsides! smile

Looks great - although I would paint the throttle pedal, and get some new rubbers for the other two...

(desperately struggling to find fault with a perfect car!)

No AC on this old girl...that is probably the immobiliser port you are seeing to the left of the buttons.

I have to say I have never been the biggest fan of the "Griffe" style wheels with the grey centres and polished lip....each to their own I suppose though smile

This really is looking splendid.

Did you have the underbonnet stickers made, or are they still available? They look to be very good quality.

I got them from France..I think 2 of them are reproductions....but the rest seem to be genuine screen printe ones like would come from the factory.

First post but long time lurker living in Jakarta, Indonesia for 5 years now and very settled there but there is always a faint call to return back home. It's threads like this that make me pine for my old white 1.9, F273 PEV if it's still around and slowly I'm building up reasons in my head to repatriate back to the UK. Second car after buying the family SUV I would have to buy a white 1.9 and return it to factory spec and condition as Nick has done here.
Cracking car and please realise that posts like this have major life changing results for some people.

Thanks Phil...was sort of the same for me always wanted a 205 1.9GTI as a lad...grew up as the rally monster T16's were launched and as my dad at the time owned a body shop in Aldershot we were invited to the launch party at the local Peugeot dealers where I got to sit in one at 10 years of age...I still remember it to this day!

Fast forward to when I was old enough to drive...I did the Ford XR2i thing....but never did the 205 GTI 1.9 and to be honest I am glad I didn't...5 years ago back in 2007 after a very painful split with an ex i needed something to keep me occupied and happy....and that's where Pugly came into my life!

....and that is really why I will never sell her....she was the one that helped me get through a VERY VERY tough time in my life....sad I know but that's the truth!

That's why I have mine. Dad had a 1.6 SR when we lived out in Cairo, and he took me to the Peugeot Talbot garage in Wokingham to pick up an air conditioning kit to take back out to Egypt. While he was faffing with the parts department (who probably didn't understand that they made a 1.6 SR overseas instead of the 1.4 in the UK - I think it was a Simca engine?) I was wandering around, and the dealer let me sit in the brand new Phase 1 1.9 GTI.

I pestered my Dad for years to buy one (we had a Talbot Samba in the UK, so would visit the P-T garage regularly for servicing etc.) but he never did. Eventually when we moved back to the UK he bought a Primera for the now larger family, and I vowed to have one as my first car.

In the end I had a 1.4 GR as my second car, then the GTI was my 4th or 5th car. Had it 7 years now. Will never sell!
