Just recently picked up my 5th VX220. Keep coming back to these cars as they are just so good and such good value for money. The latest one is a lightning yellow special edition one of 100 made originally (around 80 left). This ones been kept in a garage all its life and has only covered 14,000 miles and is in literally showroom condition.

My most recent previous car was a bit of a project that went from this

to this

And before that one I had one that had supercharged. Totally insane but outwardly looked totally stock.

Prior to that was a reasonably straight forward one that I kept for about a year without really doing much to:

On track at a wet Cadwell

And my first love that got me into the VX220 my beloved silver one. This was a real pearler of a car. It only had 7500 miles on when I bought it and was on a par with the current yellow one in terms of condition. Took it to the 'ring and did a couple of trackdays in it. Its actually back up for sale in a dealers down south somewhere at the moment.

I'll try and hang onto the current one but you never know. I might fancy a supercharged one again at some point as that one was really something!

New one looks very clean indeed.

I also like how stock your supercharged VX looked. Luckily I can't quite afford to get my VX220 supercharged as I'd probaly kill myself laugh

How tall are you? I can see your forehead in the last pic.

Nice looking new VX you have there. I too have a low mileage 2003 VX220 NA that is in great condition (looks very much like your supercharged calypso red NA actually), and I, like you, am loving every minute behind the wheel!! smile

6Ft dead and I'm blessed with a magnificently large head. I fit in with about an inch of clearance with either of the roofs on. At a push I can do a helmet under the soft top but usually trackdays are roof off.

Hey Jon. Cars are looking great! Forgot you had so many of them.

See it wasn't just me who noticed your head sticking out (though a different photo)!

I'm 6'5 and owned mine for two years. Looking at those pics I'm half tempted to get another, might go and look at the classifieds.

OP - Very nice selection there, love the lightning yellows.

Cheers. They are great cars!

Height wise it depends how you are configured. If you just have long legs you should be ok. You can remove the headrests to gain an extra click back on the drivers seat position. This has been done to my current one. Best bet is to give one a try. I'm sure a local on the VX forum would happily let you have a good look around one or just go along to one of the meets or shows in the spring/summer and get talking to an owner. We tend to be happy to talk about the cars smile

I'm sure I've read somewhere you can supercharge these for something daft like £1500 with a charger from the Chevy Cobalt or something like that? Stupidly small amount of money for the performance.

Pretty much. My conversion was 3k including a new SC and a chargecooler. Epic car. If you DIY you can do it for pennies if you keep your eye on ebay.com for the bits.

It's been a project I'd quite like to do for a while. Not looked at the prices of 2.2's for ages. Think I'll go and have a browse. Handy thing is I have a couple of mechanic mates who specialise in Vauxhalls so my lack of mechanical skill is made up for with decent labour rates laugh

If you DIY you could be into an SC VX for under 8k these days. Better power to weight than a 240 Exige too!
