I asked, and got great help, on how to set up my karaoke - now I just want to check I get the right wire!

Will this work:

I have a virgin Tivo unit with HDMI out and scart out (HDMI is used as the norm)

Can i use a scart to 5 wire component and take the 3 video leads into a component/HDMI adapter then into my Amp

At the same time take the two phono leads from the virgin to my DJ mixer unit (where my mic plugs in) then from the mixer to join the other 3 leads in the component/HDMI adapter - thus getting video and audio from the virgin to the amp (and onto the TV) along with the audio from my mic mixer box?.

All the while the HDMI lead remains in the Tivo so I can switch the amp between "normal" TV and karaoke TV (my amp had 5 HDMI inputs so no issue there)

I see Scart to component adapters and component to HDMI adapters - will they do the trick?

Does the component still work if HDMI is selected on the Tivo box? I know it does not on the V+ box, nor do any of the other outputs, bloody annoying!

I answered something in the other thread, not going to copy it here hehe

But in answer to the other question regarding the TiVo box output, they should work alongside each other if both connected but only selected individually on the TV.
If the HDMI connection is not being used the box should automatically go back to the Scart.
I have just tested this on mine and it works fine, both Scart and HDMI connected between TiVo and TV and have gone back and forth both inputs with no problems smile

Scart RGB is different video standard to component what you want to to is unlikely to work.

You could use a composite (yellow) video out from the scart and audio L&R and go to the composite video in on the amp, if it has one?

No, the component out on the scart isnt component its actually RGB with sync on yellow its a totaly different signal to YPbPr they just unfortunatly use the same colours in their cabling. You can get SCART RGB-HDMI converters though, have a look on Keene electronics website im sure they would have one.
Its also unlikely the SCART on the Virgin box is active, normally when you select a 720 or 1080 output they turn off the SCART connector along with the modulated RF output.

See above, tested my TiVo box and it was set to 1080i. Think the resolution settings only apply to the HDMI output.
True about the Scart>Component, seems its composite only from the scart socket on TiVo.
