Over the next couple of months I'm going to be changing most of the AV in the living room aside from the Panasonic plasma which can go for a long time yet. Would you care to throw your eyes over the list below and let me know what you think please, especially if you're already using the same equipment. I'll be using SuperFi to supply it so any reviews of their service would be well received.

(excuse the CAPS, I'm copying and pasting smile)

1. ONKYO TXNR609

2. ACOUSTIC ENERGY AEGIS NEO 3 V2 HOME CINEMA SPEAKER SYSTEM

3. QED QUDOS SILVER MICRO SPEAKER CABLE (rears behind the skirting boards)

4. QED SILVER ANNIVERSARY XT SPEAKER CABLE (fronts & centre)

5. QED AIRLOC PROFESSIONAL-FIT 4MM BANANA PLUGS

6. ATACAMA HMS1 SPEAKER STANDS (PAIR)

7. LOGITECH HARMONY ONE

Cheers,

David

If you are using hdmi based amps etc and you haven't previously then make sure that you have enough hdmi leads.

The ones you use to the tv currently will go to the amp then you may need an extra one from amp to tv.

Ive got that amp, and the harmony.

Very Happy with them, only small niggle is the colour buttons on the harmony are assigned to the touch screen, can be a bit of a pain.

Personally I think it's difficult to go too wrong in the mid-market AV stakes these days unless you completely mismatch the amp to the speakers. The Onkyo amp is perfectly fine, I don't know about the speakers but they're priced such that I'd expect them to be a good match. I presume you are comfortable with their size and prefer their tone to other options. Apart from that, cables schmables wink

When I upgraded recently (similar budget)I looked at the Onkyo and the Denon at the same level and went with the Denon based on musical ability as I thought it had a slight edge. For movies/features there was nothing in it.

So if you've not had a listen then I'd suggest you do so.

Sounds good. I'll see if I can find a local AV specialist who can set up the same kit for some testing.
