Hi

I am off to Tallinn at the end of Feb for 3 days accompanying 45 students from the college where I work.

Does anyone on here have any experiences/input that they could share?

Thanks

Graham

It might have changed a bit since 1933!

If you find the places in the old photos, I'd love to see a current pic

I had the privilege of being a guest at the unveiling of the Michael (Beef) Park memorial at Tallinn in 2006,a must see if your an old rally fan.We stayed on for a few days and found the city an amazing place, especially the old medieval town.A lot will depend on the ages of your students but lots for all ages and interests.Restaurants, bars, museums, art galleries, etc.Get one of the open top bus tours with English commentary.Mind you this was over five years ago and we have been meaning to revisit ever since.I just hope boozing brits on stag do`s have not spoilt the place.

Just had a thought,in February it will be dark for most of the day and very cold.In June when we were there it was the opposite, red hot all day and still day light after mid night.

I'd write a witty reply, but the taxi to the airport just arrived.

Thanks all

The ages are 16/17 - 19: does anyone have any information regarding whether they strictly enforce the legal drinking age?

You could ask this lot ? They are the bar staff ! I really havn`t got a clue, but a group of teenagers piling into a bar tend to attract attention. Also at this time of the year all the drinking will be inside under the landlords nose.Best thing to do is ask at the hotel when you arrive.

Cheers - we are on to it.

We are only there for 2 nights and setting off from Blighty at a godforesaken hour (00.30)on the first day will hopefully mean the studes are knackered on the first night! smile

there's a massive bierkeller place with kegs on the tables, and a very cool cigar bar place where i was serenaded by 2 lady opera singers visiting from the russian national opera.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

Just wondering if anyone had some more recent experiences of Tallinn, I'm looking to go in February for a couple of weeks. I know it will be cold but I'll be leaving the Highlands to go there so I don't imagine it'll be too much worse.

What sort of things should I look to see/do?

As an aside, I found it cheaper to fly to Helsinki, hotel and ferry over to Tallin than to fly to Tallin.

If you have an extra day free before it's worth it, the Ferry is a bit of a booze up though...
