Watched a very interesting episode of Air Crash Investigation this afternoon, which was scary on a number of levels. British Airways flight 9 from Djakarta to Perth.

^ that is a truncated version of the story, but flight 9 flew through a volcanic ash cloud which caused the engines to flame out at 35,000ft. After thirty-odd engine re-starts, they fired up again at 12,000ft only to have to carry out a non-ILS landing into Djakarta trying to look through windshields rendered opaque by the striations of the ash against the 747's screens.
