Well this could get interesting...

"Former Prime Minister Tony Blair channelled millions of pounds through a complicated web of companies and paid just a fraction in tax, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal"
Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/tony-blai...

Got to love the diplomacy of this quote:

Article said:
One City accountant, who did not wish to be named, said: "It is very difficult to see what these administrative costs could be. It is a very large amount for a business like this. I am sure it is legitimate but it is certainly surprising."

Bring back the death penalty for treason I say, can't be that hard shirley, we only got rid of it in the '70's.

"administrative expenses of £10.919 million"

chinny reckon.

I notice there are no comments allowed for that story.

Presumably the company has to declare exactly what all these administration costs entail? They can't just say, Oh we had expenses of 10 million, please don't tax us on this.

Is a breakdown of this ever likely to be in the public domain?

Has the auditing process been completed or is it possible for KPMG or whoever to probe further and potentially find evidence of tax evading?

Really what I want to know is can the odious scumbag get in trouble for this at some point in the future?

I don't think any PHers had a nasty habit of taking the country to war.

I believe it was one T.Blare that got rid of the death penalty for treason.

Are you seriously trying to say that it is ok for a British Prime Minister to squirel away millions of tax payers money into their own accounts?

Somebody else will take the fall if it ever comes to anything which it probably wont.

Don't panic. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Over Christmas the taverns in St James were alive with the story that 2 recent ex prime ministers were being investigated.

This story goes much deeper and this snippet is just the start. Much more to follow as the journos manage to get confirmation on the stories.

If things go to plan the follow up to this will be about certain public speaking events.

I'm not saying anything more I'm afraid.

But I would go so far as to say that he is untouchable. Completely untouchable.

But the only thing he prizes almost as much as money is his reputation and that isn't as untouchable. wink

I don't think so, we gave Fred the Shred a right rogering on here iirc.

As for Blair, he'll be holed up in the good 'ol US of A for the rest of his born days. Not sure who would want Winky though, other than a secure hospital unit.
