Audio or av amp for speakers/tv ?
Discussion
Hi
I to connect a pair of good quality hifi speakers to my tv.
Now, i know. Can use a normal hifi amp.
Howether, there would not be the possibility to add a centre speaker at a later date.
If i use an av amplifier, how does this work?
If i use only the 2 speakers would. Lose the other channels? ( in a 5.1 or 7.1 av amp)?
Or is it possible to get av amps to act as 2.1 amps?
I hope i made the question clear.
Thanks
Phil

AV amps are designed to power all equipment and formats. So you can connect TV, Blu-Ray, CD, Tuner, PC, I-pod, turntable etc etc. You can then select which speaker configuration and output for each input. So you could have 5/7.1 for your Tv but 2.1 stereo for your CD player, i-pod etc.

Does the .1 not refer to the sub-woofer not the centre? So a 2.1 will be stereo plus SW.
My AV amp will run in various modes and I think it even detects which speakers are connected. I don't get a 7.1 option because I don't have the 2 extra speakers.
Yes. You should have the option to run 2 channel stereo and everything else upto 7.1My AV amp will run in various modes and I think it even detects which speakers are connected. I don't get a 7.1 option because I don't have the 2 extra speakers.
