Does anyone know an alternative place to park for The PistonHeads Show other that the NEC? The eight pounds car park charge is ridiculous and i don't want to pay such a high fee. Don't mind a ten minute walk if it means that i'll be richer at the end of the day.....

It does if it costs 7 quid return on a train. You still have to walk for 10 mins but it's warm and you've saved on the fuel.
I don't get the charging you to park when they want you to pay to see a show thing..

It is the cost of entertainment, you have to pay similar if you were going to see a concert at the O2, Wembley, Manchester MEN etc, it is comparable with the parking costs at this years Boat Show.
It is far cheaper than parking in central london
So, whilst I would prefer it to be free, realistically (in the whole scheme of things)I do not think it untoward.
That said I wouldn't pay the ridiculous prices for food there

I'm sure, but it's doesn't make it right.
I run a business and if i wanted customers not to turn up i could start charging them to park in my car park. The same for town centres who have become ghost towns because the nearest shopping centre is either free or a quid to park.
Maybe it's me,but 8 quid to park to pay to see the show that is being put on by the people who own the car park is taking the piss.
Agree on the food too, which is even more ridiculously priced.

We pay it because they tell us too frown If EVERYONE refused to pay it or did not turn up to the shows, perhaps they would think twice wink But we all know that will never happen, right?

I guess that being a London chap £8 to park isn't something I can get worked up about. Costs me £7 a day if I drive to the station.

You could park at one of the local stations then get a train. The Mrs and I did that yesterday, parked at Tile Hill station in Coventry, where it's free, return train ticket was £3.60 for both of us, and the train journey is only 10 mins, then a walk to the halls from Birmingham international.

Just because most venues do it doesn't mean it's not a con.

If I pay by card is there a £5 admin charge?

I wonder how many punters did NOT account for that when they added up how much the day would cost.

Captive market cannot complain.
