Hi all, currently building myself a tin top to eventually race with. The budget isn't that high but I work in motorsport so obviously will be doing as much of the build as possible myself. I seem to have sourced the shell I need but it's been sat outside for a while and is a mixture of coloured panels so needs a respray inside and out. Its not rolling so its going to be a bit of a pig to get to a bodyshop etc. and I'm sure its going to end up with some battle scars so I'm not too fussed about a professional finish. Therefore I was thinking about buying a cheapish gun and compressor and having a go myself but having only ever painted with rattle cans its making me think twice about it. Is an acceptable finish relatively simple to achieve just by reading over peoples advice and watching youtube videos etc. like I say it's not got to be mint by anymeans but I dont want to be laughed out the paddock either.
Cheers Ben

Have a read of above. As you will read I am totally self taught. Page 7 onwards shows the finished shell.
Let me know what you think.

i like the idea of a rattle, can job can that actually come out half decent?
No not really, IMO you would be better off with a brush than a rattle can.Only real problem with spraying modern paints is ventilation/extraction and safety breathing gear.
Have a good read of Troopers thread, His car looks fine.
I would be tempted to do a roller paint job, search the net for Rustoleum. It would probably be quicker and cheaper than an aerosol job. http://www.rustoleum-mathys.co.uk/product/Rustoleu...
