Rest Period Between Shifts
Discussion
Evening.
Quick Question. On call policy states we must be contactable 24/7. I understand you should have 11 hours clear time between shifts. We have to get up at 0130 am each morning we are on call to check a job has ran and still be in work at 9 until half 5.
Is this legal as I was led to believe you were entitled to an 11 hour clear period?

We had the same discussion at work last year - I think you'll find that most companies will use the 'emergency' cop-out if you're on-call.

We finish at 22:30, and are back in for 06:30. I guess working for the NHS, we are exempt from all this working time regulation stuff.
I work security at festivals in the summer and end up working 24 hours then an hours rest before the next shift. I had a look on direct gov and it says it's ok aslong as you get sufficient rest later in the week (not in those words).Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
