Looks likely that Sharpkings will be joining ZR1368 on the "injured list" for TOTB. JC from Somerset is first reserve and therefore is taking one of the places, but if ZR1368 can't make it, then we need a 2nd reserve.

Anyone out there (with a Corvette) who fancies it?

Didn't think I would be allowed after my effort last year. Mind you I can still protect my reputation if I am running under someones else's entry. No doubt this will be discussed further over a beer at Hockenheim.

Clutch troubles, hopeful Geoff will get him sorted in time, but if he doesn't or Jason is not happy to run his there maybe a chance for the mighty Elsie to fly once again! Just remember this time Rich to keep the windows done up.......

He only recorded just over 120 MPH instead of the 160 or so that he should have done ! He keeps murmuring something about braking too early

Hmmm - its a long and embarrasing story which bears some resemblance to what Tristram has indicated. Basically it was my first ever quarter mile run and I couldn't stage the car. I had the windows down and some guy shouting instructions at me which I couldn't hear as I had a helmet on. Anyway the lights went green and I set off trying to close the windows. I continued on to the one mile top speed run. At 165mph (and I will uphold that figure until the day I die despite what others may say) I felt the car was a little noisy when I realised I still had the windows down by a couple of inches. I duly closed them but just after that I passed an ambulance and a load of spectators. I backed off thinking I had reached the end, but I was a little short and recorded a miserable terminal speed. I was well pleased that I had done it and thoroughly enjoyed the experince. Even better was the fact that I was using ZR1368's entry so my perfomeance went down in his name.

Incidentally, I recorded 160mph in Germany this weekend and I had a witness - my wife Jeannie was heard to say "can you slow down a bit", so I did.

....then you got off of the free play Playstation at the museum!

BTW Do you always do what your wife tells you?

I think GM call this the ASR ....automatic speed reducer, it cuts in at about 160 MPH on my Corvette too!

It has been known - I find that it usually saves a lot of hassle.

Don't worry Richard, we have all the proof you need. Before I passed you to attmept 180 Krenz was filming you and she panned over to my speedo a couple of times.

Good Girl. Not sure I remember the bit about you passing me though, but what the hell - mine would never have reached the speed you achieved.

I had 158 mph on my clock and Richard was doing about the same, don't let the checked shirts put you off, Rich aint afraid of slammin' the throttle down!

If only we'd had more empty roads on that trip...

Keep it up boys - soon they will be begging me to compete at TOTB III.

BTW Malc, I was most impressed with your Callaway. That car is mean particularly given its age and was really flying on the way back. Only the frequent fuel stops slowed you down.

Cheers Rich, would have had more b*lls if I had some brakes left, 167 on the clock approaching a bend without brakes was enough...

Hard choice this: Buy Brembos but have no money, don't buy Brembos and have no life...

Aint put them on yet Brett, will get a chance tomorrow, then see you at the Kent meet tomorrow night and I'll let you know.

If you don't see me that means the barkes didn't work and I slammed someone in the rear (polite, aint I) on the A2...

Trying out Brett's old EBC "Green stuff" pads as an interim measure.

Without better brakes I reckon I'd need about 5 miles to shut down at TOTB!!!

BTW Tristram, where the HELL was that straight autobahn you used for your run? I need to find it!!!
