Now listen up chaps, those damn softies back at HQ have come up with a darn good i-dea. What they propose is that Sgt Judas/Private Ace-T get into their shorts, slather oil over each other, get the ole starting handle out of the shed and crank that fat Jerry back into life. If that doesn't work, shoot the b d.

Rollcage said: Unless I'm missing something, surely the two banks won't (can't!) run at different speeds? They might be firing at slightly different speeds though? Not when both are trying to fire, but when running one bank independently (unplug the MAF sensor, the bank it corresponds to - the one on the opposite side of the vehicle due to the crossed inlet manifolds - ceases to inject fuel or spark), it turns at X speed. It is just dead reciprocating weight at that point, being pushed around by the fact it's connected to the one producing power by the crank they share. Reverse the situation and the other one left to its own devices is trying to run at Y speed. Together they run at (X + Y)/2, slightly unevenly as the banks aren't then working together perfectly, instead effectively fighting each other to an extent to idle the crank at their own inherent speed.

Balmoral said: Very nearly six months later, still a no go Surely amongst the PH collective there's someone with the knowledge? Meant to update this thread last week. On Thursday we had finally had it dragged off to a friend's garage. He's going to tinker with it when he has the odd moment until a) it works again, or b) it's pronounced well and truly dead. In either case it's getting sold, whether it be as a whole car (working or not) or as parts. If you look up the definition of 'bork' in a dictionary it will simply say 'see BMW 750iL'

I think back to this thread every time I get tempted to chop my LS in for a V12 something-or-other. Convert it to carbs and dizzy!

Just spoke with my mechanic mate - Brunhilda lives again! Still some more fiddling to do to properly de-bork her, but still... More news when I have it...
