Discussion
I'm trying to get into Accounts, but a lot of the jobs around at the moment require experience, or the few and far between ones that don't, I never seem to be able to get to the interview stage.
I was wondering if someone could read through my CV and maybe give me some tips and advice on how to better my chances.
Thanks in advance.

I don't do the hiring/firing at work but I occasionally get shown CVs and the thing that stands out like a sore thumb for me would definitely be spelling/grammar errors.
Next, would be a clear concise and simple layout, that looks the best I think (but this is subjective as I suppose an arty/designer type would think the opposite.) Try and keep to 1-2 pages preferably.
As for the lack of experience – that is a difficult one, especially in the current climate. The problem here (in some sectors) seems to be that they just don’t have the time or money to invest in training somebody new up and just want to bring in someone with experience. Could you possibly get some volunteering experience in the relevant field even if it is only part-time?
Oh and lastly the “irrelevant stuff section.” People sometimes seem to put “Hobbies; walking, drinking, watching X-Factor... etc” on their CV – I don’t know why they do this. They shouldn’t.
There will probably be some far better answers for some better qualified PHers soon but that’s just my 2p worth.
