Anyone reccomend any of these places or even somewhere else (preferably South Essex / Basildon area);

http://elite-wheels.co.uk/
http://www.rapid-wheels.co.uk/
http://www.paintituk.com/
http://www.essexallo...o.uk/index.html
http://www.lapaint.c...Essex/Home.html

Also any advice on what I should look out for/ask for, are all the processes pretty much the same at any place? Also was tempted to buy 1 brand new alloy and keep a refurb as a spare but concerned the refurb would not match, or will a good refurb be unnoticeable?

Cheers

Try alloy Art in Sutton Road area. They do a lot of work for the other garages. I assume you are an Irons fan from the name ? Cheers. Dazza

Yep, the online name gives it away a bit!

You should ask if they'll cover the whole wheel. One mentioned on this thread doesn't seem to get into the bolt holes unless you express that you want them and the insides of the rims to match the quality on the outside.

Rolling rims, ar wheelcare, just wheel repair, alloy innovations, gp alloys, elite alloys to name a few, all info can be found via google.

If you try any of the above, mention Pete from wheel repair it, they will look after you.

I would suggest me, wheel repair it, but we are just soooooooooooo busy at moment we are not taking on any more work.

+1 for CTC in Maldon the quality of their work is phenomenal.

For wheels though I would take mine Lepsons in Kent only because they run a full QC process on each wheel to ensure it is in good order.

What's the going rate for a decent quality refurb. I've got 4x15" alloys on my old Merc that need treating & I've no idea - £20, £50, £100 each? If I've got no idea won't need to get a bunch of quotes.

I regretted my choice of company for the refurb massively (not Lepsons) when everyone told me I should go to Lepsons and i'd even seen their work which was really good.

My TVR wheels and the rims have just come back looking mottled and almost like the early signs of water ingress. they blamed it on "old metal" of the lloy and that's just how it came up fropm the diamond cutting. The painted centres are fantastic to be fair but the rims - crap.

I'm also not happy with the refurb on my Alfa GT.

I am still waiting for the company to contact me to sort the problem out. They give a 3 year guarantee but I am really not happy with one of the alloys.

The edges are flat and rough and the top coat is so thin it's cracked off to expose the black below.

I have had several sets refurbed at Lepsons, they are always superb quality and have a really durable finish
