I'm thinking of trading in my Spyder for a Gallardo..
What are the running costs like ? and are there any recommended indpendents to deal with where I will get a decent warranty on a used one?

you won;t unless it is in factory warranty (2010 cars get 4 years)

even main dealers use aftermarket products..... whence wear and tear becomes an issue....
warranty wise gold will cost you about 2.5k

search for lamborghini warranty, threads run earlier this summer...

HTH
For some reason on this forum the advice Is dreadful for such an exspensive car. Why does no one offer any real world advice. What's the turning circle like, or the rear visibility, how comfortable are the seats, what's the gearbox like in cold weather? I still can't find any of this stuff out. Are the early cars quick? I no they have tall gearing.

then read this thread..... it's all there, just read all the gallardo threads for this last two weeks...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

manuals are discussed in the 550/560/570 thread.....
good links in the thread called gallardo buying advice.....
early cars are quick.... the car has 500 bhp and comes in under 1500kg...

it gets a bit boring does repetition when you clearly can;t be bothered to do a search or read some of the gallardo threads.....

I think that is a little harsh. I have always found people more than helpful and happy to give "real world" adice and experience. People not surprisingly get a bit fed up with repeating themselves when the same topics keep cropping up.

a bit of a conceptual thing, it doesn't really exist

or the rear visibility,
depends on whether or not you have a stupid rear spoiler

depends what you're doing in them

why would you want to look backwards??? you've blasted past them in your slow my04 gallardo... to check if they were impressed? to reverse, wouldn;t want to do that, it just wears the clutch, and whats the point in going backwards in a straight line as turning the wheel does little aside from induce a clicking sound from somewhere!

TBH you buy one of these because you want to own a lambo.... you simply don;t care for its faults.... it looks great, it drives great, it will put a friggin massive grin on your face... if its what you truly wanted... if you want a fast but practical and perfect car, then move on....

Limited info because none of the practical stuff matters. It's a bull and it will make your spine tingle... If you care about rear visibility, comfy seats and cold weather starting, then buy an R8. HTH.

Because these are not points most people consider when buying a lambo ,if they did they wouldn't buy one.but here's my answers
The turning circle is the worst of any car I have ever been in bar a dodge viper.
rear visibility is poor, but in spyder it's brilliant with roof down
Seats are fine, never had any issues with them and I have a bad back.
Gearbox ...fine in cold weather
Early cars..how quick is quick ? 0-60 in very low 4s,0-100mph between 9-10 seconds,as much performance as you could want on a public highway.

Now ask some proper questions, like how does driving one make you feel?

Silly and very happy is the answer.
