If memory serves me right I think pva has some chickens, although my memory is sketchy at the best of times. biggrin

Does it keep ok in the fridge for that length of time? Kept in a big covered bowl or do you portion it up?

Diggers right, we do have chickens, trained to lay egg white only eggs biggrin

now that'd be cool

dog eats some of the yolks, I have a few and the rest get the heave ho, with the other eggs I consume I must throw away 40 egg yolks a week frown

keeps fine in the fridge in a sealed container, been doing it for a fair few years now, thinking about a slightly larger container and seeing if i can get 7 days out of one batch actually.

should do a deal with a local bakery on the yolks scratchchin (i dont eat for reasons of cholesterol, some is ok but not 60 yolks a week)

AT what heat? Not to boil? Does it end up the consistency of nougat?

just below simmer but you have to stand with it stiring the whole time, early on before it seperates you have to mix it real well, sort of whisk with the spoon or spatula, then just keep stirring gently, whole thing takes about 15mins.

when still hot its just like thick porridge but cold from the fridge it can be cut into blocks like a stodgy pudding, so easy to take travelling as well.

eta: forgot, I put a 1/2 cup of moelleux raisins in to, they're lush and sweet.

Collected 2 dozen eggs on the way to work this morning, so will knocking up some stodge tonight!!!

Pvapour, you may have shared your meal plans on here before, but would you be willing to share what a general week looks like for you. I know there is a whole plethora of information out there, but seeing what someone sticks to, who you can relate to (in a weird internet way) just seems a bit more credible!!

I work fairly hard at the gym, I mix it up now and then, just to keep myself interested, I lack a defined routine and a specific goal but what I do suits me, however my diet goes from very good to poor and I'm sure it's the one area that I could clean up and really benefit from.

cool

be interesting to see if someone else likes it smile

on the diet front, well it's pretty easy to put down really as it's exactly the same day in day out,i'm a bit weird with routine stuff & i dont get bored of something i like so just keep doing it, the only thing I vary is my evening meal, in fact I put more effort into varying the dogs diet than I do my own hehe

just multiply by 7 & you're pretty much there, goes like this:

6am
porridge mix

10am
4 x hard boiled egg whites, dog has yolks
1 x packet snack a jacks rice crackers

12pm
265g tin of tuna, low mercury in brine
250g basmati rice
1 x whole avocado
1/8 cup walnuts
small portion of olives
portion of red jalepenos (if i can get hold of them)
whole banana sliced on top
dressed with olive oil & balsamic vinegar

1 x greek yoghurt for desert

4pm
whey protein smoothy with: 1 x kiwi & 1/2 pineapple (good energy for training at 6, 2hrs seems to be my perfect energy high)

7pm/post workout
4 x egg whites mixed in skimmed milk with some added chocolate powder and 1/2 a banana.

8pm
1 1/2 chicken breast, mixed vegies & noodles / steak, sweet potato & veggies / tuna and beans on wholemeal toast / chicken fajita with veggies

treats
protein rich Pizza smile Chinese lick or Hagen daz, these are my treats

I've found that habits are far more powerful in achieving consistency than goals ever were, if there were any goal then it was set many years ago & for health in my latter years, if you can call that a goal? they're sort lived & overrated imo, not used them since I ended competing 30 years ago.

hope some of that is some help, even if it's just a snippet you use smile

I think the point about habits being stronger and more useful than goals is key, for me at least! I'll set new goals, sometimes on a weekly basis, seldom achieve them, and just get a bit annoyed with myself.

I'm going to mirror that meal plan for a while, not exactly of course, this isn't some weird Pvapour cult, but it does look good to me, nothing there I don't like, though the sliced banana seems a bit weird.

So, once I've finished the creme egg whistle on my desk I'm going bring a bit of consistency into my diet. What looks good to me is that you probably eat more than I do most days, certainly more protein though certainly less crap.

I had planned to have chicken fajitas tonight, so that's a good start, but the usual nachos, sour cream, cheese, etc etc wont feature this time.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply

Hm, well, more protein and a milk that doesn't make chocolate milk rain out of my rear... sounds good.

Double (allegedly) the price though of 'normal' milk though. That's what I meant by 'stupid'. smile

I'd have to compare it to the price of soya milk. Mind you, I don't drink any milk these days so it's mute point*.

* - ie a point that is not sounded out as opposed to moot point which is a point that is debated for the sake of it. biggrin

Nice Food Unwrapped last night.

Getting ton the heart of the matter over tryptophan/melatonin late at night, and the quality of EVOO in UK supermarkets.

I only saw the part about the supermarkets investigating insects as a source of protein. Pound per pound cockroaches have more protein than steak and are a lot cheaper to farm. Yum.

O knew about the insect thing a while ago, 70% protein some of them or greater. They really are the gainers food. biggrin

I bought some pork crackling the other day (I recall Patticake making a thread) it delivered 60odd g of protein per 100g.
