New cooper s owner :D
Discussion
Hi guys!!
Recently bought a 52plate cooper S and love it! Brilliant fun. Pics will follow. Thought I'd introduce myself on the forum.
Just a couple questions.....What other forums would you recommend?
And finally when I got the car back I realised that it only had the central locking key not the remote locking key. The garage claim they think they still have the key in their lock up BUT if they don't then I'm guessing a trip to MINI is in order. Anyone else had to buy a new key?? I'm guessing is expensive???!!!
Cheers dodd90

Welcome to MCS ownership.
New keys from BMW are not cheap as they will have to recode the system too. Not bought one for the MCS yet but Honda wanted £400 for a new set for the type R so I would guess they are similar prices.
TBH this place is not the best forum for mini stuff. Take a look at mini2 or totalmini - plenty of traffic on totalmini in terms of country blasts, events, faults & fixes and mods.
Enjoy.

Hi!
I am looking at buying into the Mini culture. I currently drive a C2 but the alternator is constantly going and I sound like I am driving a hairdryer.
Pretty keen on the mini cooper. How you finding yours?
Id say definatley take the plunge for one! I am looking at buying into the Mini culture. I currently drive a C2 but the alternator is constantly going and I sound like I am driving a hairdryer.

Im 21 and previously owned a mx-5. Gotta be honest, the cooper s is far more fun. Ive owned it for just a week and love it
Enjoy I got mine at 21, it's a 52 plate too. Great little cars
20 months later she's going strong, only just replaced the battery (it was ten years old!), and a pipe rubbed against the gearbox and had to be replaced (previous mechanic error seemingly) - all in all it's been extremely reliable - hope you have good luck with yours.

Yeah its a right laugh to drive! A lot of people complain about the fuel consumption but I can honestly say its pretty good

Hello
There is plenty of discussion, meets and friendly people over on www.totalmini.com, I've attended a few of the organised meets with that site and there is always a large friendly turnout. For power and modification you are best heading over to www.minitorque.com, they can be very upfront with their replys on the forum but there is a wealth of good information on there for performance modifications.
The Pistonhead Mini forum is not a lively place but there are usually a few new posts every day and everyone seems helpful and friendly.
Fully agree with you on fuel. I find my 05MCS returns acceptable levels mpg (circa 30mpg).
