My god what a freak show - is it de rigeur to have a face like a smacked baby's arse to have implants? Even the Health Minister looks like Bride of Frankenstein... and we haven't even got to Katie Price's contribution yet!

that 'im not a scientist but ive read a lot in the newspaper' woman should never have been allowed on television. What a f**king disgrace.
Whole debate has ended up as the expected dreary 'women are being pressurised into looking a certain way' discussion coupled with 'blame whoever you can shout loudest about for not dong something'. ignorant bloody idiots. Katie Price talked about the most sense on it which is something of a worry

Katie Price is an interesting phenomena.

A driven character who will do more or less anything to make money. Motivated by pure desire to be rich and famous.

She has succeeded and much as I dislike what she stands for deserves respect for the sheer force of personality and effort she possesses.

Her ability to reinvent herself is admirable. Her understanding of the needs of publicity stunts, to be effective, and technique demonstrated in constantly refreshing her image is impressive in itself.

The rest of the women were not in the same league.

Yes, strange that Katie Price could actually be the voice of reason.

As for that other woman, anyone who starts a sentence with "I'm not a scientist but..." should be given the same respect you'd give someone saying "I'm not a racist but..."

she was APPALLING!! god I was so angry I was trying to climb into the TV to get at her! She will have left those already overly-worried women in absolute states of paranoid terror by talking utter sh*te.
ARGH!

I suppose the obvious answer should have been that they went for the "cheap" option and Cheap usually is trouble. As for the clinics, they should be replacing them. Surely they are "not fit for purpose" under the "Sale of Goods Act". biggrin

The reputable clinics probably would, but there are so many in that trade.

No mention of issues on the website of this London Clinic.

yes....but under insurance which is what its there for.
I think what really irritated me was the total lack of apparent understanding on how 'buying stuff' works. Clinic buys implants. Implants legally have to meet certain very strict criteria and are an implantable medical device. This requires a technical file that would fill your house (I know, Ive created several). The MHRA look at this. IF - as is the case here - the company is run by a complete crook then there is nothing that can be done in advance. NO legislation would have stopped this happening and wont stop it potentially happening in the future.
The clinics bought goods which were certified as fit for purpose.
The scum who was cheating has gone bankrupt and obviously wont be doing anything.
The clinics MUST be insured for this sort of thing and Im afraid its what insurance is for.
it ISN'T the MHRAs fault, it ISN'T the NHSs fault, it ISN'T the fault of women having elective surgery and it ISNT the clinics fault.

She certainly is. You have to admire her for that.

As the old saying goes......'Don't hate the player, hate the game'.

I think her success, and the success of others like the TOWIE lot, are a damning portrayal of the misguided priorities that British society has these days.

It seems that current generations are far more interested in becoming a celebrity than having aspirations of being a doctor, lawyer, or (dare I say it) banker!
