At the end of the day it's about individualism there will always be tribes when it comes to cars there will be those that adore standard those that want stance dub drift power junkies track day drivers etc at the end of the day they've paid for their car so they can do what they want to it.

Also if you don't like it fine you don't have to drive it so is there a need to be nasty about it? You can still voice your approval/disapproval without being personal, at the end of the day I wouldn't buy a Macan RR Sport etc but lots of you do to me they are a true waste of money & metal (this coming from someone who's girlfriend has bought a Macan) not a 964 that can be easily put back on it's standard suspension. As for the sound system while not going to those levels anyone that thinks the Bose, Harmon Kardon etc represents a good quality sound system they are mistaken but again each to his own.

I can't stand standard cars why would I want to be like everyone else so I'll change my car to suit me they are normally small changes but they are changes that will make mine different.

Personally I don't find that too offensive. Lose the bling door builds/ice. And the air ride suspension does nothing for me either.

Can see both sides of this general argument to be honest, it's his/her car, as long as they're enjoying it etc. but I have seen some cars where I think to myself, that poor car!

Oh, and I'd love to disappoint her.

I agree with all you say...........I can't believe the attitude of the absolute ass wipe that started this thread, some of us like to individualise our cars, some don't, why does he think his way is the right way for all of us. Sounds like someone from PCGB.

Ive owned several Porsches over the years and now own a 944 turbo (951) which I am currently adding some tasteful ( in my opinion) modifications to look like a 924GTP Le Manns plus some other esthectically pleasing touches. I'm sure it will not be to the approval of the purists but what the fk they are not paying so they can butt out and live their own dream. Oh and I know 951's are going up in price and this may devalue it a little, but again its my car. :-)

No it's not but mine will look very similar style in about 6 weeks when I finish it. It's a 1986 944 turbo, I've widened the front arches by 2" the rear by 3" , rear RS adjustable spoiler, tear drop mirrors, 17" polished split rims with centres c/code painted, roll cage colour coded, full leather, lucky to get hold of the optional extra 10 speaker set up, vented badge panel, Xenons, clear lens, bonnet vents, and too much to mention.....oh it's finished in the same style/colour coding as a 911GT3RS Porsche metallic grey with viper green highlights

Aiming to lower it and upgrade the suspension and brakes for 6 pots and increase the bhp to around 300+ bhp.......I'll post some pictures when finished, but as most of us it will be an on going project. cheers :-)

There's nothing individual about a stanced car. The "scene" is full of people talking about being original and individual whilst trying to out do each other. Ironically they all seem to be copies of each other hehe

I was quoting all types of tuning not one, Individualism is about what that person wants to put on their car also when you say they all look the same what do you mean?

I'm not into modified cars very much, but I do like that.

I am looking forward for when PH stops moaning about stretched tyres, wide wheels and lowered cars. It has become very tiresome. Yawn..

Cool I'd like to see it when it's finished it sounds like it's going to be a great car, all projects take time that's half of the enjoyment with them.

This has to stop. It really does. Its unacceptable molesting, like letting Jimmy Savile touch a 964. Its not on in any way.

Bigger wheels make a car accelerate more slowly. What's so good about that?

That comedy suspension means the car would be slower than a non-modded equivalent on a proper rally road.

It's your £ and you're entitled to shell out to make your car slower and worse handling in the name of making a fashion statement.

Even if that statement is: 'the driver of this car is a massive bell end'.

The whole trend of calling a lowered car, "stanced" , just makes me think of kids trying too hard to look more cool than each other, and the resulting fashion being a disaster.

Which lets face it is exactly whats happened here.

I mean whats next Blue Steel?

Who actually cares about what others do and have? Its pretty sad if you do.

The person who owns this car and it goes to anyone else for that matter, is absolutely entitled to do what they want with it.
If its not to someone else's tastes, then so be it, no need to moan and bh about it.

I owned a Porsche 993 which was fitted with Ruf suspension when I bought it. It was lower than standard, and I thought it looked great. Having never owned a Porsche before, and being smitten with the looks, I bought it without testing any others. I always liked the car, but never loved the way it drove. Eventually I sold it on, before trying a bog standard 993 at the Porsche experience centre at Silverstone. It was like driving a totally different car - so much better than mine had been, with great steering feel and a much more compliant ride (obviously).

So, if I had changed the suspension on my car, I'd probably have enjoyed it more, but at the time I don't think I'd have been very happy to be told I was an idiot for having a car with stupid suspension. However, if someone had suggested I try out the Porsche experience centre earlier, I might have come to that conclusion myself! I still think cars generally look great with lowered (sensibly) suspension, but I'd be much more careful with my choices in that respect now.
