Hi folks,
I'm not sure why , but I went to see this today and ended up buying it for........ £1500! Genuine 28k and the bodywork is mint. An ex g/f of mine used to have one of these years ago and I spent more time driving it than she did.
What do you reckon guys?

I was wondering whether I paid too much seeing as it's a 12 yr old car when it's all said and done, but it's hard to price such a good car with really low miles like this. I had to haggle pretty hard with the guy, but I stuck to my £1500 max limit and it was basically a case of "take it or leave it" on my part.There's a tiny bit of rust discolouration appearing on the underside of the sills at the front and at the very bottom of the rear arches, but it's only surface marks and not coming through from the other side. First thing I'll be doing is getting all that sorted and then get it waxoyled or dinitrol'd.
Can't believe how much fun these are to drive. They just rev and rev and rev.

Everyone says they're "girly" but if you look on the big Puma owners forums, the vast majority of the members are male! I don't think they're that girly at all, but they defo weren't designed for 6'3 stocky blokes . The driving position is.. "interesting", but you quickly get used to it. Seriously considering one of these although my purchase would most likely be straying into Shedomics terrority at under a grand, need a cheap run around thats not entirely boring. The potholes around here are absoultely trashing the Mini and it's getting into a bit of a state which is painful.
The obvious problem is rust (experienced in that field though!) Anything else to look out for?

No way I could've got it for a G in this condition and miles. Apparently there was one for sale a while back with only 9k on it and it fetched £4500, so I don't think I did too bad getting this one for a G and a half. All that jazz said:

I am far from an expert and only know what I've picked up myself from reading. Overall they are pretty solid in terms of reliability. Main issue with them now is rust. Just finding one without any rust on the rear arches is a challenge in itself. You can't do a cheap repair on the arches because the rust just comes back in a couple of months, they need to be cut out and new metal welded in then filled and sprayed, which realistically you ain't gonna get any change from £600 for doing. This is why most are sold 'as is' with the arches already well on their way as you'll never make your money back.The obvious problem is rust (experienced in that field though!) If the rear arches are going then it's likely that the sills have had it too. Get a mat or sheet and lay down on the floor and check the condition of both sills including the seam where it joins the floor pan. The condition will instantly make your mind up whether you want to carry on with the viewing or walk.
I understand there were some engine issues with some, cylinder liner related iirc where oil could seep past, so I suggest a cold start when you go to view and watch for any blue smoke from the 'zorst.

I'll be signing up to those sites in due course. Not driving it yet as it hasn't got any rent on it and I want to sell my current motor first.
