New car - Passat CC GT
Discussion
My new (interim) company car has arrived, so I thought I'd stick a couple of rubbish phone camera pics up. It's a Passat CC GT TDi 140 BlueMotion Technology, and thankfully it doesn't have the full name on a badge or it would weigh about 3 tons. It's full of toys and goodies - heated leather, nav, dual zone climate, cruise, 18" wheels etc and it really well built and incredibly quiet on the motorway.
Rear headroom isn't great and as I'm the opposite of powerfully built I can't seem to get comfortable in the seat. The worst thing about the car though, is the gearbox, which is rubbish. It's a 6 speed and as most of my commute is on A and B roads I spend a lot of time rowing it between 5th and 6th which is far from a pleasurable experience. With a DSG box I think it would be a great mile muncher, it only has 4k on the clock and is already doing 49mpg in normal driving and the ride is good as long as you leave the adjustable suspension alone but the clunky gearbox makes driving a lot less pleasurable than it should be.
However, it looks great! I love the wheels and silver really suits it, in fact I can't think of any better looking normal 4 door saloon car this side of £40k.

I do like these, they do look very good, but i'm not taken on the whole bluemotion ecotec thing VW currently have going on at the moment. I think it's almost false advertising to some extent. My dads 2.0 diesel vectra from 2004 has averaged about 55mpg over the 120k miles he has owned it and that is a much older engine and probably a heavier car too. I know diesels bed in and get best economy over a longer period, but unless it is drastically different, i dont think they should brand them as blue-motion eco warrior cars.
for £40K i'd take the Jaguar XF in white with tinted windows and graphite wheels. God damn they look sexy.
The best looking boggo 4 door saloon of next year will either be the next generation Mondeo...
Or the hotly anticipated Alfa Romeo Giulia.....

That is NOT a good looking car! Looks cheap (well I know it's cheap anyway, but it looks tacky/cheap)Your are entitled to you're opinion...
But it looks ok and improves on the latest Mondeo I feel...
