Spent Saturday/Sunday working on setting up RetroPie (Retro game emulator). Took a few hours to install but all easy to setup, got some ROMs on it and playing Mario, Donkey Kong etc... N64 games on the Pi using an Xbox controller - Very cool!

Need another project now!

Amazing how far things have moved on... I remember being awed by one of these

Everything is on the above website and the price includes XU3 Lite board, a plastic case, an active cooler, micro HDMI cable and 5V/4A PSU.
I've been using one of these with Lubuntu for a few weeks as a desktop replacement and so far I've been very impressed with its abilities for such a tiny little thing. Using the eMMC card, it boots to desktop in ~8 seconds. I reckon it'll have paid for itself within a year in reduced power consumption versus my old PC.

The Odroid forums are well supported, and so far any questions I've had have already been asked and answered on there.

I ordered mine from www.pollin.de

Ah, I probably should have pointed out that I try and avoid Amazon wherever possible these days. I try and support smaller online businesses instead where I can smile

There's something quite amusing about that statement, a few years ago it would have been supporting smaller retail outlets.

Also double check that the Amazon you are buying from is not actually the small online business in the first place.

My stock is on there, but its not Amazon that sell it, its me, the small business, just using them as a conduit.

Aye, fair point. I think all the things I've bought off Amazon in the past couple of years has been from Marketplace sellers so I'm not averse to that. The Pi on Amazon says it's from the manufacturer so I'm OK with that.

Ironically, while I've been dithering Amazon are out of stock now too. That'll teach me for making a stand against corporations. laugh

I bought from Pimoroni as I wanted one of their cool cases. But through Amazon. Plenty on there. Came this morning smile

CPC aren't exactly a 'small online retailer' either, they've been around forever!

Yeah, they're only a business with a £1 billion turnover!

Fair enough but for the record I said smaller, not small. I don't have a problem with big business, I have a problem with monopolies. A few years ago I got to a point where I was buying everything from Amazon without really looking elsewhere, and when I found myself ordering a bloody lawnmower from them I realised I should probably distribute my hard-earned a little wider. smile

Having said that, I've ordered a Pi 2 and SD Card from Amazon. Should come in the next couple of weeks. boxedin

On my list to do shortly, to run Kodi through TV from external hard drive with Yatze phone control. Successfully trialed on a friend's Pi B recently. smile

I used Yatze on my Nexus to control Kodi, but only because that was the first app I found - It is absolutely brilliant! (As I am sure you already know)

I recently have the free version, but I'm willing to part with a few quid to "Pin" files as per Google Play (my current music app). The only issue I'm having is getting my borrowed Pi to go to sleep; all I can do is turn it off, but then (of course) I can't reboot from the app! irked

Just leave it on, it only uses a couple of watts.

True. I'd have to leave my external hard drive on all the time too. I'm no expert: will that make it wilt?

Also, has anybody set up external access using the Pi and an external hard drive? That would be phase 2 of my home digitising.
