Reading through this months 'Octane' magazine and there is a beautiful Jaguar special for sale in the classified section which looks like MPH's special. I can't find a copy of the advert, but it's a stunning looking thing.

Quite a shock to see it for sale and it would certainly take some replacing....

Yes it's for sale.

I'm still not certain if I'm doing the right thing and I'm sure I'll regret it, but I 'm rethinking my classic car "fleet" and need to put the money into other things.

Cue for some gratuitous pictures.

Wow... Just wow. It looks like a cross between a DBR1 and an XKSS.

Is there a thread about its construction that you can point me towards? Thanks

Selling something like is never be the "right thing"! It's stunning and looked fantastic close up at Raby Castle a few years ago, but if it leads to something even more special then the pain will be short-lived. Price looks fair for the ammount of time and effort that has gone into it too.

Good luck with the sale thumbup

I've posted bits and pieces about the car before but I don't remember if there's a thread about the concept and construction.

Basically I wanted to re-create the route that a "gentleman racer" may have embarked on in the late 1950's early 1960's in commissioning/obtaining a sports racer from a small specialist company such as HWM, Cooper or whatever.

It's inevitable that it has similarities in appearance to the cars you mention as it was always intended to reflect the styling of that period.

The car is unique. The body was hand-built from scratch in aluminium after first making up a wooden buck. Virtually all of the fittings are either period or custom made for the car. This even includes the windscreen and the headlight glasses/surrounds.

The engine was built by Rob Beere racing and is a 4.7 litre unit. It really is an amazing bit of kit as it revs like a 3.4.

There are a couple of good articles on the car at the following links, but maybe I should have written-up the construction process myself.

I was working overseas at the time and even my colleagues got involved. One of them coming up with the badge design.

1) Stunning car, hope you get what you want for it.

2) Does this mean my copy of Octane will have arrived in the post today and be waiting for me?

It's in October's C&SC. So is it still for sale, or for sale for a second time since then?

I have photos I took at the Old racing Car company in Norfolk a year or two back and it is the epitome of loveliness. They offered to swap it for my XKSS with a cash adjustment (note I don't say in which way!) but I decided against it. Just look at the photos to see the attention to detail.

To my eyes it's a mix of 50s/60s Jag styling - and not badly done at all.

The 4.7 > Eagle?

On Twitter I saw there's a C&SC review coming up.

No, that's an old picture. It just nicely summed up how I was going to blast through today's challenges and stuff. The feature story was in C&SC way back in August 2010.

As for the car now, it is for sale I think with http://markshannon.net/

If my memory serves, the seller is taking quite a loss at that price.

I think that was more than the price I saw on CMC's website a few years back.
I still it looks stunning and even better in the metal than in photos.
