If you are a subscriber to EVO you have probably, by now, got issue 168 on your desk.

Ours arrived today and boy, were we excited!! woohoo We've been waiting all month for this since we went on the photo shoot with them at the beginning of February in North Wales.

Back then I did put a post on but had to remove it at EVO's request as (obviously) its not the done thing to risk the competition finding out what they are up to before the issue comes out. Therefore, if the mod is reading this, please can you put my early-Feb post re: EVO back on?!

Expect the regular edition to be on the shelves next Weds if you are not a subscriber - otherwise turn to pages 51 - 77 and, in particular, pages 74 - 75. How proud are we?!?!! cloud9

Will look forward to reading this when I get it next week smile

How come Evo borrowed your car, would AM not lend them a Vantage S, or is the normal practice in reviewing cars to borrow someone's?

Loads of stuff on test direct from manufacturers but just ours and an Audi R8 privately owned. Evo were looking to source a V8S and asked Petrolhead Nirvana if they knew of anyone so Bachi suggested us (we are booked on their Alpine tour). Probably no V8S left on AM's press fleet now.

There has been a trend recently to try and use 'real' cars, not press cars that are all tweaked and fettled for each test. I always thought that perhaps that was just an excuse for not being able to get hold of one. The review looks great from flicking though gona spend some time analysing it closely very soon.

Your car looks fantastic, this article must be a nice keeper for you

Ps great shot on p75

I was approached by EVO asking to use my R8 for that shoot.

Ah, the Chris Harris vs Ferrari thing. Makes sense.

EVO's website updated today and issue 168 in the shops tomorrow.

Chuffed to say ours is one of the 9 cars on the cover www.evo.co.uk/front_website/gallery.php?id=500065

Just read it now, I like the bit about insisting the sport button is pressed smile

It's a good article, but I wouldn't take their advice if I was in the market for a car like that. The GTR and R8 would be a definite no from me, yet they were the only two to get 5 stars from Evo. It would have to be the V8VS for me, followed by the GranTurismo S.

I agree. There's no way the R8 would have got my vote so I think their choice was a bit random - like, we've got to choose something other than the Porsche this time - erm....scratchchin

The GTR is a fantastic car and extremely fast but it has none of the refinement of the AM and every time I think of it I can't help but see it as every boy racer's dream. I drove it, I loved it but I wouldn't want to own it.

Like you, second choice for me would have been the Maserati. That was a pleasant surprise when I took it down the road - it felt fast yet comfortable and the sort of car you feel you could really settle into and do some serious mileage in driving

Obviously we are biased when it comes to all things AM but we really did come away happy that there was not a single car on test that we would have preferred to take home. We were proud of our Aston Martin and we felt really priviledged to have had the experience of being on location with EVO. What a great bunch of blokes and what an unforgettable experience.

You should have gone for it Gary - opportunities like that don't crop up too often and you could have come along for a couple of days and joined in the fun! Its not like they were going to nick your car and thrash it 'round a track, just some nice road work that you could have joined in with too!

Seriously, if anyone gets the chance to do this, so long as its road tests/photoshoots and you get to be there too then I would say go for it.
