Cayenne S Sat Nav has quite a few missing roads & so on. Last week I found that it has not got Keele University on the discs. For the price and comparing it to the DVD Alpine unit I had fitted to my previous car it doesn't hold a candle! Anybody else found similar problems?
And, while in moaning mood about the whole Porsche factory fitted Sat Nav & phone thing in the Cayenne & 996TT neither are as good as the bluetooth unit & DVD satnav fitted to BMW! (IMO)

I agree. When my PCM1 actually works on my 996TT it sometimes can not find large centres. Once I went to Winchester (Centre) it sent me off towards Southampton. I could not believe it and double checked by reloading the data and it did it again !

Familiarity with its "logic" helps me out - and using a map :-)

Cyrus, I am really pleased to know I am not the only one with doubts over the "logic". I also like the quaint instructions such as "turn half right".
Perhaps Porsche could produce a lexicon to go with the very overpriced system - although to be fair - most of the time and especially when you are driving alone on a wet winter's night it does give on a feeling of some security that you might be going in vaguely the right direction.
Have you asked your OPC any questions about this at all?
Thanks

I couldn't ever justify the £2k+ option price that Porsche were asking for integrated Sat Nav when I spec'd up my TT back in '01

But I always felt I was missing out & decided to make amends with my conscience & purchased a portable NAVMAN unit from PC World who were seling discounted units for £395 from their stand at last week's British Grand Prix

It includes all the maps for the UK & Europe and I'm delighted with it - the only down side is that I had to purchase an additional 128k SD memory card to load all the maps - but they are cheap enough on eBay.
