Sucking noise after new clutch on 91 ZR1
Discussion
Hi there,
Posted the following to the ZR1 net also - anybody know what it might be??
Just had my clutch changed (to a stock LUL (Valeo) 04-114 clutch-kit), that's all fine.
Anyway, I've had the roof off during this, and just put the roof on and noticed there's a significant "sucking" noise inside the car.
I'll describe:
- like a vacuum sucking noise
- sucks when in gear or not, i.e.
- amount of suck related to the RPM, i.e. louder suck with more RPM
- suck occurs with climate control on and off, i.e. no difference
- suck appears to come from near the cup holders, and in fact is quitened down when I put the cup holder "flap" on it
There are no codes, the car is driving fine (very well, in fact: seems this sucking may have given it a bit more oomph!)
In addition to this, I've notice a "sticky" idle: the revs seem to settle at 2000rpm for about 5 secs before resting down to a more-correct 1000rpm or so. Might be related, might not be.
Am kinda stuck; while I can't see/feel/tell anything wrong other than this "sucking" noise, these things aren't usually good! Although it does sound nice
I've checked the normal hoses - all fine; not gone under the plenum (prefer not to if I don't need to!)
Anybody else had/has this? Anywhere particular I should look?

after I had my clutch changed I was getting a lot of 'new' noise inside the car. I also noticed the center console was getting hotter than before. I removed the console to have a look and found that the rubber boot around the shifter had not been fitted correctly leaving a large gap for engine noise/heat to enter the car.
