After getting annoyed by the Evo constantly breaking on track days (at great expense) I've decided to get a kit car! My cousin has one of these and driving it on the track is so much more fun than the Evo, you feel so much more attached to what is going on. It's going to be ready in about a month and I've only got these photos of it so far. Not sure what colour I'll have it, it's got yellow bodywork on at the moment but they'll change the colour if I want. The engine in the photo is not the engine it's having, it's going to be a supercharged Zetec 2 Litre with about 220hp. I can always upgrade to 320hp at a later date . It's a brand new car and will also have an LSD which is a must have in my opinion (I've driven one with and without). Very excited and will be doing lots of low cost track days this year! It will also be road legal but primarily used as a track car. Just thought I'd share my good news

Nice! Did consider a Phoenix but thought I'd just go with the traditional kit car look. What horsepower are you running in that?
Am really looking forward to it being ready!

when it is finally mapped it should be around 340BHP.

Jesus, I can't even imagine that amount of hp in a striker.
I've just an 1800 pinto in mine with twin carbs and it's enough for me, 330hp is just bonkers.

lol, no. Strangely RAW have a Hi-Boost Superchargered Zetec engined Phoenix as well. We are in a bit of a race to be the first to finish. They are both Omex kits but mine is a Sylva Phoenix and it has had head and cams whereas theirs is new and has a sequential box. There are pictures of my car on the Phoenix advertising material.

Yes I saw that when I was there. It is the same colour as yours and is also waiting to be mapped! Thought it was coincidental enough to ask anyway... I bet yours will be a beast when finished!
I hope to have the power upgrade at some point, although it should be plenty for now I think.

jeffw said: looks great... This is my supercharged Zetec in a Phoenix There looks like a long travel from the supercharger through the intercooler and back to the inlet manifold. Does that give any lag type issues?

It is a Rotrex system and doesn't have lag in the same way a turbo system would.

It drives superbly! I've only done about 100 miles as the weather has been so rubbish! I'm hoping to do a track day in the next few weeks but don't really fancy a wet one...

Nice one. Looks great in black with the anthracite wheels. Your car is my dream spec. Thanks for the pictures, and do report back if/when you do your track day or some spirited road driving. .
