The "very slight corrosion to underside of vehicle" is just a tiny bit of surface rust where the sill rails have been jacked up at some stage. The rest of the underneath was 100%
LOL at that as an advisory! Must have been extremely thorough! I may have already complimented your car in this thread, but either way, it's lovely! Well just got SAJ back from Ian Taylor's bodyshop.
The bill came to just over double the £400 estimate, because the inner arch was rotten & they blended the rear wing into the O/S door.
Everything was thoroughly waxoyled & should last the lifetime of the car.
Ian spoke to me about the previous botch-job of a repair to the arch. Let's just let the pictures do the talking...
Then the finished repair. No hall of mirrors shocker, that's for sure!

Very nice, such a blast from the past. Back in the hot hatch days, if you saw one of these in the rear view mirror, you'd better pull over!
I test drove a new one, stepping out of a 1.9 205. The engine was awesome, but the handling / traction was way behind on those silly 14" wheels. With your mods though, it must be great.

OP, that is absolutely fantastic!
Good to see one of these getting some love.
Back in the mid-90's I borrowed one of these from a motor trader mate of mine; dark metallic blue IIRC but it only had an 8 valve engine as the 16V had been broken. I only had it 1 day, the night I drove it home the digital dash turned itself off twice (scary on an unlit dual-carriageway when you are pressing on) and the next morning the camshaft seized on my way to work! But even with the 8 valver it was good fun.
Anyway he collected it and left me an XR4i instead, so I wasn't too gutted! If only he had kept them both (or just one of them)!
Keep enjoying it - must be the ultimate old-school hot-hatch!

Very tidy car that OP. Reminds me of mine when I was 19 year old. Mine was the other red (that went pink if you didn't take care of it!).
Ended up putting a Calibra turbo engine in mine and having it tuned, it was running just under 280bhp. Good fun. Then I put the 16v engine in a Nova.
