My New Ford Focus RS
Discussion
Hoorah! Today I collected my new (to me) Ford Focus RS. Was a bit of a drive to go and get it but it was sure as hell worth it! Only got one quick picture that I took of it at the dealer today, but I'll post up more tomorrow. Thoughts on it so far:
1. What an engine. A cut above all other hot-hatch power plants (Audi RS3 excepted). The noise and torque are quite outrageous.
2. It's comfortable and the seats are excellent, if set a little too high.
3. It's fast. My Dad owned one back in 2009 when they were released and I remember it being quick, but not this quick. They supposedly kick out around 370lb ft and I can believe it.
4. The green is a fantastic colour.
5. The bi-xenon headlamps are exceptional.
6. Lots of people want a race.
7. What on Earth will it feel like with a Mountune kit fitted?!
I've got a few bits for it that I'll fit tomorrow, but you'll have to wait until then to see what they are! Nothing too exciting, just little bits to neaten things up.
I'm extremely pleased with it. One of the best all-round cars money can buy? I think it might be.

I'm a big fan of fast fords. I never owned a MKII RS but had several foci. 2L zetec, ST170 and 3 x Focus STs at various levels of tunes. How the heck do you get 370bhp through FWD though?!! Thats why I quit after the ST it was getting silly at 260bhp and tyres every 4000 miles (the limiters on 1st and 2nd were relaxed by tuning). Then again I do mostly round the doors, I guess for a motorway they are great.
I still really like the look of them but at that money/power I'd be getting something 4wd or RWD

The suspensions and setup the RS has got lets it put the power down unlike the ST.I still really like the look of them but at that money/power I'd be getting something 4wd or RWD

Love the RS. Crazy colour the Ultimate Green.
Massive fast ford fan! (if only I could afford one!)
Love these and there'll never be another one like it. They sound ferocious wide open. Or at least the white one I saw found my way was. Was like being on a wrc stage start!!
Best colour is probably the racing blue, but Kermit juice green isn't far behind. Shane they never did one in electric orange like the ST.

Great cars, I ordered a green one when they were launched, took 6 months to arrive! I didn't plan to sell it for a long time but then BMW launched the 1M and I just had to have one. I still miss the RS though.
train drivers must be getting paid well, now they have striked so much...gaz1234 said:

train drivers must be getting paid well, now they have striked so much...As for my cars, whilst my mates smoke/drink/gamble/wear flash clothes etc, I scrimp and save to get what I want. I bought my first new car at 19 (106 Rallye) and 19 years later have a 1M :-)
Thanks ever so much for the kind comments, guys.
Just realised I forgot to post the main details of the car! It's a 2010 Ford Focus RS, 3000 miles, 1 owner. Spec as follows:
Ultimate Green (obviously!)
Suede/ Leather Interior
Luxury Pack 1
Bluetooth / USB
Anyway, as promised, (and a little late!), here's what I did to the car on Sunday:
1. Obviously, the first mod was one of the new 2" PH smileys in silver. Very nice it is too.
2. I then did a few light-based changes. First up was the red fog lamp being swapped out for a LHD reversing light, complete with red bulb. Why didn't Ford do this from new? Looks much better. Next I whipped the headlamps out to change both the sidelight and high-beam bulbs for Philips Blue Vision Extreme items that match the colour temperature of the bi-xenons a bit better. Whilst I was at it, I also fitted the same bulbs to the number plate lights. Not quite as white as LEDs, but they never have the correct beam pattern unless the car has been designed for them. Here are the sidelights:
That's it for now! Next thing will be having the wheels turned gloss black - I've always loved black wheels and due to the number of gloss black bits on the car as standard I feel they work especially well on the RS. At the same time I'll replace the centre caps and the little gel 'RS' badges on each wheel as they're all a bit manky and covered in overspray from a sloppy wheel refurbishment. After that it'll be a visit from a mental detailing bloke, armed with geeky gadgets to make it look clean and shiny. Then, lastly, it'll be Mountune MR375 time. Those poor, poor front tyres.
