Recorded this a while ago only just got round to posting it up. It has been on another forum and general consensus is that whilst I was a little eager to overtake the audi driver was being a cock. As I get alongside you can see him start accelerating to the point he's flat out trying to block me. 2.2 diesel mondeo didn't really stand a chance against 4.2 tdi q7. Maybe I should have lifted off earlier but it all happens so fast. You can see the car pitch down first when I lift off and second when I brake slightly as I was running out of visibility. I also have the part where we pulled over and had a little discussion about his antics and he insisted that he was "trying to save my life" by preventing me overtaking. Crazy. I'm not sure if you're after validation or what but I do agree that's the work of an idiot, absolutely no need.
As for the slightly preemptive overtake id be surprised if there's anyone here that hasn't done something similar.
I would have had a very stern word I think

Good views just prior to overtake - I would have gone for it as well

Yes - I would have gone for the overtake too - good line of sight and you would have cleared the Audi in plenty of time.
The last car that did that to me was an RS6, but he hadn't anticipated that my little 2-litre Fiat might be a bit modded, so despite trying to block my overtake, he still ended up looking at my tail end for the next ten miles. I think I may have been deliberately slower for many of them too.....
However, as mentioned above - well done for not getting the red mist and trying to get him back

You went for the overtake a little prematurely but the Audi driver should have let you complete the manouevre. His driving was aggressive and dangerous. Total W  R .

I'm not even sure the overtake was premature - sure, it was early and he crossed the hatched area as he exited, but seeing as it was bordered by broken lines, it wasn't an illegal move.
Personally, I'd say that the OP read the road layout and conditions nice and early and executed the manoeuvre at the earliest opportunity, in order to complete the overtake as quickly as possible.
The only thing the OP didn't do was anticipate that the Q7 driver would be a to$$er, but even when this proved to be the case, the OP did the right thing by backing out of it.
Personally, I would find a way of letting Plod see that video. I don't mind a bit of friendly sport on the road, but that was an act of dangerous aggression with only one intent - to prevent you from getting past his fugly tank.

As you've said OP, slightly early but you do have a clear view of the road ahead and are well within your rights to go for the overtake. The reaction by the Audi driver is immature and dangerous. He's blocking your legal overtake by acting like a prick and giving it the beans. As another poster has said, well done for staying back, I'm not sure I'd have kept my cool quite as well as that, but I guess having a camera to record such idiots helps to a degree. Poor choice of music though

Whilst he's undoubtedly a tool for hanging you out to dry, is there an chance that he was simply accelerating up to the limit and failed to notice you? There was a thread on here recently about this, coming out of an NSL and being overtaken, and so having to abort any plans of accelerating...

Also, note how as he comes past his wheels are actually over the centre line, which they weren't at the start of the manoeuvre... Just a tosser, unfortunately... I don't think I would have attempted the overtake just before the NSL sign. You do not know whether or not the driver intends to accelerate firmly as he passes the speed limit change. Obviously the driver shouldn't speed up once you are alongside but that possibility is factored into your decision to overtake. The possibility, is just too great when driving into an NSL.
