I can't go for a whole season without either cracking or bruising my ribs & this season has taken it's toll on me!
I am currently nursing for the third time this season bruised ribs & they are sore as f***... I can't cough/sneeze or breath properly without it hurting like mad & to lie down in bed is almost impossible & getting back up is more than a challenge! I literally have to pluck up courage just to get out of bed because the pain is unbearable! I have 2 weeks to recover until my next game which turns out to be the title contender between us & them! God I hope I am ok to play........

I think it stems from having them cracked a while ago & not giving them enough time to heal properly.
Just a slight knock & they hurt.

Take some painkillers before the game and after it take a long time off..If you get bashed during the game expect the healing process to take much longer.

I know a guy who punctured a lung because a broken rib pierced it..not nice at all.Good luck.

Broken or cracked is at another level. Not nice at all & can be very dangerous.

Currently on diclofenac which does help. thumbup

Get your bone mineral density checked out and test for osteoperosis.

I know someone whose ribs fracture easily. *If* it's the above, like with many conditions, the earlier it's spotted, the more successful the treatments.

I am guessing Sunday League (the football real men play - because it's a lot more dangerous than professional football!!).

Oh well it's doctor time! My ribs are getting worse & worse & pretty much can't do anything including walking without the pain being severe. At times it also feels as if something is stabbing my from inside like a needle or pin, hence I think they could be cracked or broke. Atleast if I seek medical attention they can confirm this & hopefully give me something for the pain.... frown

Paracetamol will probably be just as good and less hardcore. (But I'm no doc.) I cracked a rib when I landed on the coping while skating a half pipe. It was damned painful eg when driving(!) but it does get better.

yes it does getter better over a few weeks. This isn't the first time I have damaged my ribs although every time it seems worse!

I had started to cough up some nasty sh** & they are wanting me to monitor it......

That's not right! But I can't see why it would be related to the rib cage being injured. If a rib pierced your lung, you'd have known about it long before now.

But I wouldn't book your summer holiday just yet. yes

They put it down to "shallow" breathing & gave me some breathing exercises to try....

nope, good painkillers vital to allow you to take full breaths and not stagnate the peripheral lung tissue (alveoli) which in turn can lead to a chest infection.
