Ginetta G40R - anyone got theirs yet?
Discussion
I have had one on order for about 6 months. Some delays due to supply of Mazda engine. I think they are now using a Duratec mildy tuned to 210bhp as standard....should be better performance than shown on the website/brochure which quoted 175 bhp. Am hoping to get my hands on it soon!!!
Anyone got theirs yet? What's the verdict?

How well have they sold? Are Ginetta hitting their targets?
I hope it's a success; the world needs more cars like the G40!!
Was thinking about this myself. Wonder how many they've sold so far.I hope it's a success; the world needs more cars like the G40!!
Ever since i read the early reviews of the G40R I thought they'll be the "next" Lotus. Wouldn't mind a G40R out here.
Surprised that 001 has not yet been delivered given the launch was over 8 months ago (Aug '11), but it goes to show how difficult it is to make a good road-going car. How long have you been waiting?
I work in the design and development of safety related automotive components and systems, so I know the huge amount of work that has to be done upfront before the first prototypes are even made and this is the quickest way to bring a reliable car to market. If you build it quickly and try to sort out the problems that get thrown up, then test it and try to fix more issues, it takes forever. Coming from race car ancestry, I suspect this is the route that has been followed. The danger now is that the delays will upset people more than the problems with the car.

Autocar mentioned that they are getting their production car soon. (I got the impression in the next few weeks)
What's the difference then to the (orange) G40 Autocar currently have long-term? They (Vicky Parrott) have had it since she picked it up from Leeds on 2 April. Or is that a pre-production car?Been following her bits in Autocar but so far she hasn't said much about it really.

Yes pre-production. I believe she wrote in her first entry that they were expecting a production car during the long term test. I presume their car has the lower powered engine and it definitely doesn't have the finalised interior and presumably fit and finish will have changed.Been following her bits in Autocar but so far she hasn't said much about it really.

I think Autocar's G40 has been swapped out for a prodution one (see the Le Mans pic with the plate GII ETA). I got mine the same week, they reckon 200bhp. The interior is quite nicely finished, seats comfy........did leak into flootwells in torrential rain but my friends Exiige apparently does that too. Used noise cancelling headphones to drive at Autoroute speed, but this isn't really what it's designed for......looking forward to first track day next month.
I emailed their sales department yesterday and got a reply this morning.
Demo available at the factory from 1 August, and 4 month build time.
To buy needs 30% to start, 50% for stage 2, and balance on collection.
I suspect it will be too uncomfortable (noisewise) for me in practice - would be interested in it as a different, fun road car, rather than to track specifically.
