engine temp and fan.. HELP NEEDED!!!
Discussion
ive had my mini cooper S off the road now for about 3 months, since ive upgraded it a little the engine temp is higher on the dash dial indicator and the noise from the engine bay seems to be a blowing/ steam leak sort of sound? i have put a bigger intercooler on and a MSD ignition thats it? the fan either was on constant or not on at all? it was hard to tell weather it was on or not? it was also revving just under 2000rpm on tic over? normally its just above 1000rpm? the fan also stayed on for about 6-7minutes after i turned the car off? the manifold was also glowing red, it was only started for about 15minutes, not drove just stood! i checked the water and was all fine and up to level.
please can someone give me some help/info
Many thanks

I had that issue with my R56. It was so bad that it prompted the engine management light to come on on amber.
Considering the solution the that the garage did, they changed the high pressure fuel pump and the coolant pump. This sorted the problem all together. Thankfully the car was under warranty so the cost to me was no issue. The milage at the time was about the 50k mark.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like exactly the same issue, the car is at a similar mileage and the amber warning light has come on, you mentioned yours was done under warranty, but do you know what it cost? Sorry for the delay, it was a MCS R56. The fault was erratic idling and high temperature. The Fan was going for a long while after switching off and subsequent draining of the battery.
After about a minute of the car running the engine management fault light came on and the idling got worse.

I had similar on my clubman last week. I lost boost and the fan stayed on, no lights on the dash thou. It ended up being the thermostat.
Is your heater working?

The car is using a lot of coolant and the heater isn't working, any ideas what the issue is? Is your heater working?
