Plane watching at London City Airport
Discussion
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had ever done any plane watching at city airport?
There look like there are quite a few places you could possibly get to. I'm thinking somewhere like here might be quite good: http://g.co/maps/7dm99 - I'd quite like to have a plane take off over me, any way of telling which way the planes take off/land?
Does anyone know how to find out the flight schedule for the airport? As I was thinking about heading there after work but I'm not sure if there will be any flights left at 6:30pm?

Looking on the Met office website to see what wind direction they have would be a good indication of Runway:

you can register on the Aviation part for free.
today the Metar says:
EGLC 221250Z 09011KT 9000 NSC 14/04 Q1029
so the wind will be blowing straight down runway 09

Yes, and that was exactly where I went. It looks like you are driving in to a scrap yard but follow the road round and under the bridge for the main road and you come out on the waste ground / car park area. A 200 to 300mm lens will suffice. There look like there are quite a few places you could possibly get to. I'm thinking somewhere like here might be quite good: http://g.co/maps/7dm99
