I always like watching the planes coming in on finals.

It's not as much fun as it used to be now it's all Airbuses and Boeings.

It was great watching Russian built aircraft come in or BAC 1-11's, Tristars, DC-10s and the like, it's a shame there aren't such diverse fleets anymore.

Mmm, I know what you mean. My interest in aviation started in the late 70's when my dad would take me up to Newcastle Airport on a Saturday afternoon, armed with an old pair of binoculars and a Sharp airband radio. Even at a relatively small provincial airport like that, the variety of civilian stuff coming in and out was enough to keep us on our toes, let alone when something military put in an appearance too...
