Quite a lot it would appear...

It's 2001 9-5 Aero HOT manual-230Bhp, 187k, MOT til Feb 2013, tax til June and has had load spent on it in the last 2 years and Saab history up to 2008. Why so cheap I hear you ask? Well there are a few issues.

Mayo on dipstick
Oil leaks including one from the headgasket
Random noises from rear suspension.

I'm well aware of the PCV/sludge issues on these cars, however it has the latest PCV kit fitted and has had the sump dropped. The mayo wan't too bad when I picked it up and the coolant was fine. I put 300 miles on it over the weekend and it's now mayo free smokin I'm going to retorque the cylinder head and fit a new rocker cover gasket then do an oil change and see how it is.

What a lovely big car to drive tho. Everything works including ice cold aircon and although not amazingly quick these things do hustle along nicely with fairly soft suspension and loads of grip. I may invest in a cheeky remap, apparently I'll get more power and more MPG according to the Saab forum boys.

Great cars, super comfortable!

What is the fuel economy like? seems saloons with bigger petrol engines are getting cheaper as time goes on, lots of car for the money!

Remaps only work if you keep off the boost wink

I get 25-27mpg on my commute (all b-road blasts) and im hoping a remap will up this but if not oh well! biggrin

I've got a 9-3 Aero 2.0t so only 250bhp 365n/m torque after a remap bounce

ETA: The commute is done at a sensible economical pace too, push on the loud pedal too much and you can dip into the high teens! hehe

Cheers guys. Fuel economy is pretty good for what it is-saw 37mpg sitting with the cruise on at 70mph on the M8 the other night. Was a bit more enthusiastic driving down some back roads and it dropped to 27ish. For the size of car it's pretty impressive!

Was that really £500? Absolutely ridiculous value for money. I was going to say 'even if it's shagged' but it seems a good run has cleared up the mayo. ASTOUNDING. Well played!

Any idea what the rear sus will need to quieten down?
