Subject to paperwork/visas etc, I have provisionally accepted a job in Oz.

Brisbane based but FiFo, 2/1 rotation.

Hoping to get the details sorted before Easter, then plan to arrive around May. O/H will eventually come, she needs to finish her qualification in the UK and sell her house first, so I'll be on my own for a while (as I currently am in the Middle East).

Looking for this move to be more permanent & more of a lifestyle choice than the money-oriented decision to go to the Middle East.

Bonus is I can import the TVR too!!

Anyone else in Brisbane? I had a search through old posts but didn't see anyone.

Hi Mattt,

Congratulations ! I'm sure you will love it here. I arrived from the UK a couple of weeks ago and have almost finsihed getting things sorted out. Just waiting now for the family to join me from the UK in July, and for import permits for the cars !

There are others here who are sure to know a lots more than I do about stuff, but feel free to drop me a note if you need info.

Cheers
Ian

Is the TVR with you ? You will have to supply evidence of use in the country of registration for a year for a personnal import. I had to supply evidence for the 2 weeks I was at Le Mans to qualify for a years ownership - not an issue if its in the UK and used by TOH !

One here. I'm in the Gold Coast hinterland.

About 60Km by road south from the centre of Brisbane.

As I presume your requirement is to be within commuting distance of Brisbane airport, you'll actually have the choice of beach city or bush, any where in South East Queensland. Give yourself plenty of time to look around.

Oh, & welcome.

TVR is in the UK, but I've done about 5,000 miles in 18 months of ownership so shouldn't be an issue.

I read that speedo must be in KMH, not just the digital readout? How did you do it on yours?

3 years ago it was not ccompulsory to have the speedo in kph, however I had mine changed over whilst being serviced at TVR Power just before I left. Still prefer the look of the mph ones but its so much easier not having to convert from one to the other especially with the number of police on the roads.

What are you doing over there Mattt?

I'm an ex Perth boy - looking to return, but looks like mining/gas is the only industry out there!

I did Mech Eng - but 20 years ago there was bugger all work to do!

Matt,

I wonder if you are coming with the same crowd that I am thinking of and in talks with? Its preliminary at the mo with the Recruiter but may have interviews over the next month or so.

They are looking at Comm Managers for two "hubs": Perth & Brisbane.

Ring any bells?

Congrats, make sure you choose where to live wisely, it'll make it a lovely or horrible experience if you move to a dud area...
