I'm looking at picking up my 1st kit car, an MK Indy, but I'd like to add a full roll cage and although I might do some road miles, it will be mainly used for the track.

Do MK supply one? Is it weld-in? How much does it cost (MK's website is awful!) I've seen a few posts that suggest a budget £1000 is ballpark.

I've also been looking at buying a replacement chassis...it seems that's almost the same cost - does this have any implications as regards VIN's etc?

Thanks guys,

are you buying a built car or building?
procomp do a msa approved cage! as there are loads of debates as to whether or not the double bend in the front leg of the mk cage is allowed.

Just to add balance to the debate I have absolutely no problem recommending MK.

I have an MK Indy r which Is the later model with inboard suspension. I run an r1 engine and the car is spot on. Great on track, fine on road. However, I don't use MK for work on the car and it's been constant development although I think that's a track car rather than MK thing.

Roll cage wise it's ordered from the outset (well mine was) as a chassis with a roll cage.

I'll post build pics from mine when I'm on laptop. Pain trying on my iPad.

Current price of a MK full roll cage is £507 and a standard Indy chassis is £761, you will need to add if required powder coating to those prices, which will be around £200, you can have the cage bolt in or weld in, the standard cage is weld in.

Just to add, you don't say if your looking to buy or have bought a Indy or Indy R as the Indy R chassis is more expensive?
Another point to note, if your having a cage retro fitted to a car already built, the rear tub will require removal to fit the cage, some builders stikaflex this tub on, and it sometimes breaks when you remove it, if this is the case, add around £100 for a new tub.

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm looking to buy not build. I'll give MK a call and see what's what.

Hi

Just a small correction from a posting above. The rollcage we manufacture is full FIA spec not just MSA. It is one of only two roll cages that are currently fitted to Seven type cars in the UK that has been through the very latest FIA testing procedures which takes into account the chassis, rollcage, and the mounting points.
Cost for full supply and fit starts from £850 and rises to £950 depending on the exact specification and chassis modifications required.

Cheers Matt

Hi Matt,

I assume that's the price for me supplying you with a stripped down chassis?

Is that painted, or do I have to arrange my own?

Thanks.

That's fully painted in the Etch primer we use on all our chassis. the prices quoted are for the car in fully built form.

Cheers Matt

Matt / Procomp

Do you still do roll cages for mk indys? If so I would be very interested in bouncing some ideas of you and arranging for one to be installed on my car.

I couldn't see an email address on your website so thought this would be the next best option considering the bank holiday and you possibly being closed to phone

Think Matt is having some trouble with his emails and forums at the moment. Best bet is to call directly.

Toplads, highly recommended!
