Who made these originally?
As said on the other thread - I'm sure the old yellow "Kosi" racing Chim had one too, so are we sure that there wasn't someone already manufacturing them in small numbers..?

Just bought a car with a hard top - not convinced by the looks or design (would look better without the side windows and neater front edge....

Wonder what the market would be for one if came in at <£1k (excl. paint) ?

There is a market and Steve Edwards does them.

thanks for sharing, I guess I've not seen that model before...
looks a bit like a crossing between the 2 parts shape/model from the link (steve edwards) hardtop and the 1 part race model from the red car, do you also have a picture full side?
and how is it fitted?

That's, ummm, "interesting"...

When that hardtop is off is there a soft top fitted underneath or is it an "all or nothing" deal?

I agree about the side window and the front fitting....But you could always change the side window (TBH even a heavy tint would help).

How does it attach? Has the body been modified?

Looks like a single-piece Steve Edwards hardtop, with triangular quarterlights added..?

It's an older design than that. It might even be a TVR factory offering, I've seen some pictures of one on a Griffith before unless that's the same roof that's been sold and resprayed.

I thought this hard top was already advertised in Sprint?

Actually, just Googled it and I think it is this one (although the pictures are gone, it is the same company mentioned in the car's advert on PH classifieds):

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

But I don't know how much it is now, or if it still produced...

Yes - it is a MW one (I think the last of c.5 they made in 2005). No it's not advertised (yet).

Will get more pics up soon.

Here's a few more pics (really solid structure and perspex windows but I'm sure finish could be improved around windows):

its indeed not top-workbiggrin
it has a bit of the red race car hardtop with also the side window, but not the nice curve...
it has the curve of the Steve hardtop but not the nice craftsmanship of detail and how you say that, how you mount it to the chassis etc.

but nice to see how they done that, not as I was expecting inside biggrin
thx for sharing thumbup

Hi Folks,

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I've come across a few pictures on here of the 'Malaysian Style' hardtop for the Chimaera and wondered if anyone had any more images from any new angles. I'm curious to see more of it.

Also, I've seen mention of others thinking of building one themselves, anyone had any luck with it or got a currently ongoing project?

Cheers guy's

Steve.

I can't help you but the Malaysian one is the best looking by far!

Are you thinking of building one?
