After having been in sales in Financial Services for 30 years I'm looking (not entirely of my own volition) to move into sales or business development in another industry.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a good recruitment consultant who specialises in sales or business development roles that may be able to help me as I really don't know where to start (having not had to look for a job for 12 years) and I'm getting desperate.

Steve I'm in the same boat - been in the Financial Services industry since 2003, self employed since redundancy in 2008 and I'm sick of banks, mortgages, insurance and everything to do with it.

I'm just adopting the approach of applying for loads of stuff on jobsite.co.uk, monster.co.uk, totaljobs.com etc etc and seeing what comes up.

Thankfully I have Field sales experience as I was a Lender BDM for a while - still seems tough to get a BDM role in the current climate and I don't expect it to be easy when I do manage to get something.

I started looking seriously a week ago - have sent out about 20 applications for specific positions, and a further 10 or so speculative letters so far. Had 1 interview already.

PM Me if you want a chat - hopefully you're in a different area to me so we won't be competing for the same jobs !

swerni - I'm on Linkedin but I've never really used it as a job hunting tool. I will look deeper into it in the morning. Thanks.

caprirob - I'm pretty fed up with FS and all the hoops you have to go through these days but I have had a lot of interest shown in me because of my experience and production figures but I haven't got my diploma and because I have been strung along by a prospective employer for almost three months I have missed the last realistic date to get it before it becomes compulsory. So now people are losing interest.

I've wanted to get out of FS for some time but on my own terms but now I've just got to find something urgently. I may well PM you for some ideas. Thanks.
