Hello Chaps I posted regarding my girlfriends Continental GT sometime ago regarding the car misting up.The Bentley main dealer local to us had the car in and decided it was blocked rear spoiler drains that where causing the damp to build up in the interior.£600 later and them removing all the boot trim and rear seat they said it was fixed.Right from soon after the car was returned my girlfriend was complaining to me that the problem was still there. She had lost all faith in the dealer as they mislead her on something unrelated to the damp problem. At the time of purchase the car had just received a new rear brake light under warranty.I have spoken with a local windsreen expert and he told me that Bentley now no longer remove the rear screen to replace the brake light. They are now told to peel the old one out and clip the new one into place and use sealant to seal up any holes. On very close inspection and jetwashing round the rear screen I found water absolutely pooring in and tracking through the interior trim.I belive this has been the problem all along. My question is where does she stand in regard to a warranty job carried out badly? Does the fact that she reported a problem to our main dealer who failed to find it help? Or are all Bentley main dealers incompetent? Or should she just bite the bullet and get someone credible to repair it?banghead

I`ve had the same issue with the high level brake light on my GT. As your screen man has pointed out; the main dealer does not now take the screen out to replace this item, although many regard this as being a bit of a botch job. The replacement light no longer has the lip on it that necessitated screen removal. The most difficult part of the job is penetrating the screen seal to feed through the new wiring loom. The experts use a hot wire or probe to get through the sealant with minimum disruption.

Naturally this has to be properly sealed on reassembly.(obviously not done properly in your case). To solve your problem the light has to be removed again. They are fragile and difficult to remove without damage. Based on this the car must be returned to the main dealer to have the job done properly.( they may have to replace the brake light again) I`m sure you dont want to pay for two!

Hope this helps.

hello chaps.

I am organising my rear screen to be removed whilst new light is fitted on Monday coming as the car is in for a 60k service, since its going to be a full day job, thought might as well have the light changed

I'll let you know the outcome of the operation and whether I would recommend the chaps doing the extraction and refitting

The fitter seems fairly confident he can remove and refit the screen, so fingers crossed and I'll keep you informed.
