993 Immobiliser proof
Discussion
I seem to recall there's an open letter from Porsche GB regarding the Thatcham 2 qualification of the standard-fit immobiliser on the 993.
Anyone know where I can get a copy? I've just bought my 3rd 993 (this one's getting supercharged ) and Privilege need proof of immobiliser fitment.
cheeers!

I insured my 993 with Privilege last month, and they didn't even ask if there was an alarm/immobiliser installed, which I thought was strange.
Steve - What premium did you get with them? I have just got my renewal through from AON at £569 limited to 5K miles with an agreed value of £30K. Which seems to be fairly average these days.

£601 including protected NCD, hire car, legal protection etc, 6,000 miles a year including business use. Norwich Union wanted £1272 for the renewal.

That`s pretty good, I think I will call them and get a quote. I notice that your car is outwardly standard looking (no offence) so I might suffer with the body kit and other mods!
I will let everyone know what they quote me...
Right, after a load of aggro with the insurance company, I finally got it sorted so here's the info for anyone else in the same situation.
The insurance company wanted either a certificate or the manufacturer, model and Thatcham System Test number for the fitted immobiliser.
The standard fit immobiliser (that you stick into the dashboard to disarm) on the 993 was made by Hamilton & Palmer, but the system 'manufacturer' is usually specified as Porsche.
The system test number is TE2-73/0494. This info should be sufficient for any insurance company requiring 'proof' - certainly saved me having to have a whole new system installed.
Hope this helps
