Hope to get a Ferrari 355 Berlinetta soon, but final decision not quite made yet. Any info on fuel consumption would be helpful. Also, does anyone use the 355 as their main car, and be confident of it not getting scratched , keyed etc by the public. Any experiences would be apprecited. Do police stop you a lot in a Ferrari even when you are not speeding!!

Do it!

I really have no idea about fuel consumption but when I first got mine, it was "about £100 a day"!
I was filling her up twice a day becuase I was driving it so much, but I've calmed down quite a bit now and don't constantly drive it just for the sheer hell of it all day every day.

I picked mine up in February and I've already put 6,000 miles on the clock and it's due in for a service about now.

It's absolutely rock-solid reliable just the same as an 'ordinary' car, and I have no hassle with the police whatsoever.

I use mine as my 'main car' but sometimes it's just too much.
Some days, you just want to get from A to B without all the attention that goes along with it. It can feel a bit awkward sometimes sitting at traffic lights etc knowing everyone is looking at you. Most the time it's OK as you kind of expect it with a Ferrari, but as I say, sometimes you just want to 'blend in' and not get all the attention.

It's really well behaved in the wet and it's not at all 'frisky' and unless you were being really silly, it's not likely to suddenly snap out of line and bite you. It really is a friendly car

I really don't like leaving it in public places though, as these cars tend to bring both the best and the worst out of people.

You have to open the doors real wide to get in or out as the sills are very wide and it's quite a long way to stretch over to get in/out, so if I have to park it in a carpark somewhere, I'll only park there if I can find a double space so I can straddle them both to give plenty of room and hopefully keep other peoples car doors away. If it's pay & display carpark, theres usually no bother if you pay for 2 tickets which would be alot cheaper than getting door dents repaired.

Most people absolutely love it, but some people seem to take an instant dislike to you because you drive a 'flash' car, but these people are pretty few & far
between and there very little bother. I suppose alot of that would depend on how old/young you are though, but most people love seeing a ferrari out & about prowling the streets.

You really must also check out my thread about having a Tubi exhaust fitted, as the difference in noise is simply astonishing!

I can answer fairly accurately...

Just done a 5.5k trip round Europe. Averaged 19mpg over very mixed driving including city centre and open road.

The mileage improves a lot if you can keep roughly constant speeds and drops a lot if you're nailing it round twisty roads.

I've not had a single problem in 18mths and 15k miles of ownership with malicious damage.

The only "problem" you have is that everyone wants to touch it! Occasionally this even means people leaning on it which isn't on (tell them politely if you catch them and they're usually very embarrassed and desist). Greasy finger marks all over it are de rigeur

You also have to be ultra careful when driving of checking your blindspots, as lots of people loiter there to look at and listen to the car.

As for the cops, depends what mood you cath them in!

I've been stopped twice in the time I've had it. Once two weeks after buying it by 2 bored WPCs. "Just checking the registration and tax were in order"!

Once by the Italian cops for a velocity indiscretion. This was a big surprise as I was under the impression they were more lenient with certain types of car. Sadly not, but then the 68.25Euro fine was arguably worth it

If you've always dreamed of owning a Ferrari, do it. You will not be disappointed.

PS Fuel consumption should be largely irrelevant It'll get you between petrol stations in great style

I was pulled over the day I picked up my 360. Wasn't speeding and was doubly sure due to my Road Angel! Police man was adamant I was over "well over 100". They didn't do me for speeding because they said they didn't have their gear on at the time.

Apparently the undercar aerodynamics suck the rain off the road into a big rooster tail, I didn't know this would happen, and obviously neither did the cops but it was sufficient excuse to pull me over for a look.

Don't know about the 355, but I am astonished at the mpg I can get, £60 for full tank of optimax and dual carriageway cruising I reckon I must be getting mid 20's to the gallon! Didn't think it would be that good as my my old V8 Chimeara needed a full tank every 50 miles or so.

If you're running on SUL I suspect you're filling up when the gauge says 0, rather than when it's truly empty?

The spray's amazing though. Have noticed it in the 355 at sedate speeds. Must be even better in the 360.
