Top Gear Survey
Discussion
Don't forget to do the Top Gear Survey for cars 2001 onwards as it includes Corvettes. Let's show these bums how satisfied we are with the US's finest.

I think Clarkson the Wa**er dislikes Corvettes, he tried to destroy one in one of his programmes.
Many people think he actually knows a lot about cars, which is quite worrying, as on his say so many great cars residuals can be eroded.
LOL when did he try to destroy a Corvette? He's never tested one on the show?
For last years 50th Goodwood ran a Corvette concourse at which Jezza (Ford GT) Clarkson was I believe a judge!!!!! On the TV coverage I remember seeing the interviewer asked Ford GT Clarkson which was his favourite corvette to which his witty response was something in the order of '' That’s like asking me which leg I would prefer to have amputated.'' Let’s hope they give the C6 to one of the other presenters for a less biased opinion.

You Vetters might be very unlucky, they may reussrect Steve Berry to slag it off, as he seems to all American cars
Is this the same Steve Berry who critiques bikes - a small chap with a northern accent.
If so he was extremely complimentary about my Vette at SuperCar Sunday this year where he was doing the PA/Commentary. He was promoting The Sporting Bears, Dream Rides in which I was taking part. With all the supercars present, he specifically highlighted the Corvette as being a superb car which was highly underrated and he was recommending people should take a ride in it.
I always had a lot of time for him when I was a biker (for 20 years) but he has now proved himself to be a pundit of considerable taste.
Well, I guess things will likely carry on with the Yanks being a good target for the mainstream media. Besides, in a strange kind of way I like the 'bet it doesn't go round corners' comments right before I have some moron in a repmobile saloon with a turbo engine (or whatever) try and keep up.
I think we're out on a limb with the American car thing - but that just seems to add to the charm.
If you want a laugh see what Clarkson said in one of his videos about the Callaway (sorry Malc...)

There are certain things you shouldn't forget here and that is that GM screwed up when they launched the C5 inthe UK.
For a start, the car was launched as an auto only so the initial headline tests weren't that complimentary. The next thing the C5 was in for the Performance Car Of the Year in Performance Car and came 10th out of 10. Why? Because it was still an automatic. Nothing against autos but not ideal for track racing an NSX or Ferrari.
By the time they released the manual version in 1999, it was all over, the charade was over and the Vette was never taken seriously as a performance car despite far better figures than that initial pretty slow automatic. I think the same fate befeel the Z28. I seem to recall Tiff needling the car round a track moaning about it being soft.
So let us all pray that GM haven't given Top gear an automatic or we are already doomed!

Probably not the same Callaway that, though 14 years old, returned from an 1100 mile trip to Germany, using only 1/2 quart of oil, is still at least as quick as my mates old 360 Ferrari (£110,300) with a higher top speed than the Ferrari, and, in 2 years of ownership, has cost me less in parts and maintenance than one 6,000 mile service on said Italian car (including the fact that I spent £800 on a Centerforce clutch in my total expenditure.)
And on top of that my car + total expenditure over 2 years + insurance and road tax + petrol costs
still =
less than my mate lost after 6 months and 4,000 miles of ownership.
191+ mph and 0-60 in 4.4 for 15 grand: Yeah, I'd say that isn't that impressive at all...
Clarkson could no doubt recommend something better...
GM are bound to give Top Gear an auto as the people at Chevrolet Europe are BIGGER w@nkers than JC. I remember the Tiff Needell thing, they sent him out around the Pembrey circuit in South Wales in an auto up against (I forget what) but both manuals and quel surprise it came third.
If GM Europe (marketing dept) have provided Top Gear with anything othe than an auto, I will be very surprised.
