Cooper - CVT gearbox?

Mrs. Pincher is hopefully (at long last) going to learn to drive but only wants to do so in an Auto, which I have no real problem with.
She like Minis and I have been looking around for one for her and think that a nice Cooper on an 07 or 08 plate would do the job nicely but was just wondering when the switch to a 'proper' auto box from CVT was made?
