"At the end of February Dunlop announced the launch of its Sport Maxx Race and Sport Maxx RT products at Spain’s Ascari Race track. Designed to help some of the world’s fastest cars perform, Dunlop says the Race iteration will fit key models such as the Mercedes SLS and C63 AMG Black Series, Audi’s TT RS and R8, the Porsche 911 GT3 and the BMW M5"

An alternative to Cups?

better so they say

very tempted to fit these to the GT3 as well as that needs new tyres.

CUPS are silly money and not available any way.

I recall a story that they were supposedly even going to N rate these but haven't heard a whimper since. Does anywhere actually ever have stocks of these as yet?

They did say they were going to be N rated, but so were the Pilot Super Sports lol

The N rated thing was ok in the past because the PS2 was a great tyre, now it's just bullst and quite anoying.
I would never buy PS2 over Pilot Super Sports now.

PS2 on the Spyder were st on anything other than bone-dry tarmac. I wouldn't buy them.

They are still bloody good in the dry though and easy to get a bit of heat into them

I have always ran PS2's

Just not a great cold or wet tyre.

AS for conti and Bridgestone N spec, give me a PS2 every time.

the issue is tyres have moved on, but none of the new good tyres are N spec now
It's a bit of a joke this N spec tyre warranty thing when people are fitting far better tyres.

The 991 GT3 comes with these so must be good and clearly going to be n-rated too!

I am sure that they will indeed be good, however all that it actually means is that they will be N rated in 20" sizes for 245s and 305s and that they will probably have a better supply chain than Pirelli...

They carried the N0 rating on the 991 GT3 in Geneva.

I was hoping these Dunlop Sport Maxxes might become available for my 2006 997 Turbo but neither the fronts 235/35 x 19 or the rears 305/30 x 19 seem available N rated or not. I am another big non-fan of the PS2s and currently use Bridgestone RE050's which seem the best compromise between wet and dry handling and don't sound like a B52 on take off on concrete motorways like the PS2s do. However that design is now old and there must be better newer design tyres around. The RE050's do tend to squirm on very hard braking from high speeds (I have PCCB's), when the half asleep eastern european truck driver wanders across into the third lane of the Auotbahn. The Bridgestones feel like a sportier version of Conti Sports, which I used to use on my 996 Turbo.

On another tyre matter, I use Yokohama A022's on my classic rally Tuthill 1977 911RS. 225/50 x 15 at both ends on 8" wheels at the front 9" at the rear. The handling is fantastic on these. They are no longer available. I had one pair in storage but have now used these. With a KAZZ 150% LSD, I get through back tyres rapidly. There seem to be no all weather rally tyres available at all in this size unless anyone knows differently. I don't want to use Michelin TB as they arrive half worn with very shallow tread and cost a fortune into the bargain. Any suggestions guys?

Was not really happy with these on my R32, the grip was poor, and they wore quick... The Conti's I replaced them with are a much better tyre imo...

I think they are amazing, love the tyre and can take 60 degree heat and many laps.
wearing very well, seem faster in tests than a R888 and wear better than a Trofeo

so win win imo.

Plus the best road tyre by miles is the Pilot Super Sport.

I hate conti's :-) to a point I binned the last set on my Mini even though not fully worn.

what are you trying ? "ContiForceContact"

Where did you get that information from? I've not found any wear comparison info between the new rack-biased tyres.
