...here's the link to do it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/The thought of the rest of the season being as terrible as yesterday's show has promped me to complain. If we all pile in and tell them how badly they did yesterday, perhaps we'll persuade them to make some improvements... Edited to fix link. Also to add my reasons for complaints: - 80 minute programme with 30 minutes of blah. Nowhere near enough of the race. - Terrible editing made it really hard to follow. For instance, I totally missed how Rosberg got ahead of Button - all of a sudden he was just there with no explanation. Couple of other examples of this.

I thought it was OK, remember the BBC don't film the race, the home nations camera crews do the filming.

Why complain? Not too sure what you're expecting from a highlights programme?

why the uproar? What was wrong with the highlights? The only bbc coverage I've watched is the forum which was very good.

Oz & Malaysia had 70min highlights.
Bahrain was chopped down to 50mins. As sad as I am it does make a difference even if the racing left me cold.

50 minutes of highlights and they still struggled to find interesting stuff. Bahrain is just dull.

EDLT, it wasn't !
I watched the race on Spanish TV whilst listening to Radio5 Live for commentary, and it definitely wasn't a snooze-fest.
Where did you find the Forum Weyland, is it part of the 80 min highlight programme ? all I see on I-Player is the Quali & Race highlight programmes.

BBC red button sports multi screen last night, I think they are just doing race highlights now though. Was another great race, If I was cynical I'd say that some equate McLaren doing badly = boring..

On Saturday I overheard the result of the qualifying on radio 1; absolutely no warning before it was reported, but it was probably my fault for having the radio on having missed the qualifying.
On Sunday I watched the race on Sky, then went out in the car, the race result was reported without any warning (again) on radio 1. This was before the BBC highlights show had started - why are they doing this? I realise they don't want to have to 'spoiler alert' everything, but do they really expect us to tune out of any of their broadcasts before their f1 show?

Chrisgr31 said: What was wrong with the highlights? Would like to know what I amcomplaining about as they seemed fine to me! Of course highlights cannot ever be as good as the full race, mainly because you can't see the patterns that emerge during the race. However yesterday's highlights seemed to jump across events that weren't explained at all. As someone else said, one minute Rosberg was well down the field, well behind Button and struggling against other cars (being passed by Hamilton on the dust etc.), next thing he is 5th whilst Button is back in 7th. I worked out that it was because he was on a 2 stop race whilst Button stopped for a 3rd time - but this was never shown or explained. It was also very unclear how Kimi caught up with Grosjean. According to the Bahrain thread, people are saying Kimi lost a lot of time behind Grosjean, but on the BBS highlights, he seemed to pass him as soon as he appeared behind him. And then all of a sudden Kimi was on the tail of Vettel - we didn't see him being reeled in. Not helped by some bizarre commentating, when DC hadn't spotted that Vettel was passing Di Resta for the lead, not lapping him. All in all, not the BBC's finest effort.

Considering the amount of speculation as to whether the race would actually go ahead, and the protests and riots apparently due to take place during the race, I consider it a blessing we got any highlights as it is.
I tried to read the debate in the Bahrain Spoilers thread with an open mind and seeing it from both sides, but it appears some people are never happy. It was always known that a certain number of races would only be a highlights session and at least highlights are actually being shown for the races they no longer broadcast live.
Given the civil unrest in Bahrain and the political cloud hanging over the race itself, the fact we actually got to see a race, (which in my opinion was just as interesting as the rest) is testament to those who believe in the sport and provide the entertainment that it does.

What annoys me is that the BBC don't make the entire race available at all. They could quite easily do so on iplayer, even if they don't broadcast it. Bernie said that it was no problem for them to do it, and the commentary is recorded live and supplied to other broadcasters so it is available.
If they provided that, I would be quite happy to wait until after the race to watch it rather than seek alternative means to watch the race live. It's seeing the entire event that I am interested in, not particularly watching it as it happens, especially as if you use the unofficial live timing screen or the iphone app you can play back sessions whenever you want.

Someone said the BBC don't do the filming. That's correct but not only do they do the editing for the highlight show but they know in advance they will only be showing the highlights so surely the commentary team should take this into account ? The actual race footage was a farce,no continuity at all and not helped at all by the sporadic nature of the commentary.
Garbage BBC,garbage !
