Just heard today the sad news that Simon (wee man - former wedge owner) sadly passed away at his home on Friday 20th April. Thought people would like to know. He was a great guy and will be sadly missed. My thoughts and condolences are with his family. Just spoke to his mum and the funeral will be next week some time in Colwyn Bay. Mart

Sad news.
My thoughts and prayers will be with Simon and his family this week.
Perhaps we can give him a 'rev up' salute @ Chatsworth on Sunday.

The first time I met Simon was when I was RO for Car Club. He was on his way to my meeting just after he bought his car and he broke down, alternator failed and he ran out of volts. We went to his rescue and as we arrived the most incredible storm started. I was in my Grantura and we got out the jump leads. Lili was sat in my car keeping up the revs and Simon was sat in his, he thought it was hilarious. I was stood out ankle deep in water soaked to the skin connecting everything up. We got him going and stayed "connected" to charge up his battery. He sensibly went back to Wales and we went back to meeting, we had a bow wave over the front of the car all the way back. Next time we saw him he was carrying a huge bouquet of flowers for Lili, nothing for me!!! We knew then what a gentleman he was and Lili has never forgotten.
He became a good friend often calling in for a coffee, a chat, some advice and to put the world right. This news came as a massive shock, I haven,t heard from him for a while (its easy to loose touch) and never knew he was ill.
We had another incredible storm here over the weekend with big thunder, I suspect it was the Wee man settling in. Make some noise up there Simon, our loss is their gain.

This is truly shocking news of the worst kind. I can barely believe it, I have known Simon since 2005 and have spent many hours Wedging on is beloved roads of North Wales and many many miles all over the UK when he joined me on runs I organised. Only last November he was with us in Blackpool on a Halloween Hooting I ran and as usual was in fine form which only makes this sudden and tragic news all the more shocking as I was unaware that he was ill at all! He was a gentle giant who would do anything to help a fellow human, or animal, if it was in his power and we are all the worse off for his passing. Our thoughts go out to his Mum, the dogs and his family and friends.

Cant believe it, Simon started Wedging around the same time as me, he invited me to the first Wedge run I went on, we then spent many hours chasing each other round North Wales and various other parts of the country. Everyone knows that Gandalf and I helped to organize two Wedgefests not many know that Simon was also heavily involved, he preferred to stay in the background and just get on with things, the kind of person that made things happen without making a fuss. He loved his 350 and I know regretted selling it, he loved his mum his dogs his beach. SIMON LONGWORTH a big man with a massive heart, We are proud to have known you. Rest in peace my friend Darren and Angela Martin
