Hi guys,

Finally my Chimaera 520 is MOT'd and the new engine run in! took her out for good 'shake down' run last night and she was crabbing & tramlining and generally didnt feel or handle very good at all.

I have Nitrons all round, and I'm looking for recomendations for a Garage around Aberdeen that will be able to set her up correctly.

The two I have looked at are either Wallace Performance or Clark Motorsport. Any feedback on these would great.

Thanks!
Ian.

My Subaru has been setup at Wallace and it's handling superbly.

I then had my Aston in at Clark the other week and they have done a superb job. Very pleasant to deal with.

If i'm honest, I would say both have the right kit so accuracy wise they are both the same and the adjustments being made to follow a spec will also be the same. However, if you are looking for the car to be setup slightly out of spec and requiring a little more advice and bespoke setup then the Clark guys may pip Wallace in terms of depth of knowledge and experience of geometry setup.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

James

GW Racing just past peterculter did my westfield - corner weighted etc.

Top bloke and reasonable prices. Took time to explain everything he was doing etc.

Cheers,

Dave

Graeme is a touch busy as the raptor was smacked of the barrier at Doune on Sunday and they are transfering whats left to a new tub for Presscott this weekend.

Do places like Clark Motorsport have a database of all the factory settings for each car and match the geo to this? (unless you request a more aggressive setup of course).

That's how it's always worked when I've used ProGrip in Larbert (formally Bonnybridge) - the Hunter machine seems to have the factory settings installed but John would make suggestions based on what you asked for, or would give advice if asked. I'd guess that's how most places/machines work but could be wrong...

They certainly knew what the factory setting ranges were for my car.

James - swings and round-abouts...

We had a pretty horrific experience with Clarks! Paid a lot of money for not a lot of work.

We sent the car in to get set-up, corner weighted etc... but they only weighed it and changed the geo to something we had TOLD them we didn't want. They didnt ask for driver weight for example. They didnt alter spring pre-loads, they didnt record ride heights... they simply reported it as 'ok' for our £400 odd . I would have thought that asking driver weight would have been a basic question to ask before staring . Pretty angry about the whole experience to be honest.

We've used WP for the last few years and always given them an idea of the setup we want OR told them what we want. I'd have thought your Impreza would have the same Geo setup as mine - which isnt standard Subaru.

You hear good and bad for all places though so I guess its down to individual experience.

I've used Clark a number of times now, they came and picked the car up from Dyce and deleivered it back later in the day. Ewen is a decent and knowledgable bloke.

They will be fitting a cage to my clio in the coming weeks too!
